Postdoctoral Research Fellow- Modeling Systems Pharmacology & Obesity Research

USA - New Jersey - Rahway

Job Description

Be a part of the legacy: Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program

Our Research Laboratories’ Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program aims to be a best-in-industry program for industrial postdoctoral researchers, designed to provide you with an academic focus in a commercial environment. With the resources, reach, and expertise of a large pharmaceutical company, postdoctoral researchers will be positioned to excel in an institution committed to breakthrough innovation in research and discovery.

Position Overview:

The Quantitative Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics department of our company's Research Laboratories in Rahway, NJ is seeking a curious and collaborative Postdoctoral Scientist with a strong interest to develop quantitative models of biological systems. The successful candidate is eager to learn and excited to overcome scientific challenges. You will build a mechanistic mathematical model based on publicly available information that integrates key pharmacological and physiological pathways to quantitatively understand the interplay among pathways involved in the regulation of body weight and body composition. Such a model enables prioritization of potential anti-obesity drugs with different modes of action based on projected clinical benefit and provide means to explore favorable drug combinations. Furthermore, it could be used to explore the impact of different background therapies in clinical obesity trials. The postdoctoral scientist will have the opportunity to work in collaboration with data scientists, modelers, biologists, and clinicians at our company's laboratories.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop a quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) model of key pathways regulating body weight and body composition in obesity

  • Conduct literature searches to inform key pathways and identify relationships between components in the model

  • Qualify the model with existing clinical data

  • Perform simulations and sensitivity analyses

  • Collaborate across the scientific network within our company's laboratories

  • Invest in your professional and scientific development

  • Attend and actively participate to our company and external scientific symposiums and meetings/seminars
