What we are looking for…
A strategic and experienced Policy and Permitting Lead to drive our efforts in securing and maintaining vacation rental permits across various jurisdictions. This role requires a deep understanding of municipal codes, regulatory compliance, and permitting processes, with a strong ability to provide expert guidance to internal teams and homeowners. The ideal candidate will drive efficiencies in permitting workflows, build relationships with key stakeholders, and proactively address compliance challenges in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
What you’ll do…
- Act as the primary point of contact for all matters related to permitting and compliance across your jurisdictions, both internally and externally.
- Lead the preparation, submission, and renewal of vacation rental permit applications across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, and Onboarding teams to drive alignment on permitting timelines and priorities.
- Regularly monitor changes in municipal codes and regulatory landscapes, providing timely updates and actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Create and oversee documentation of permitting requirements, processes, and compliance frameworks for all operational jurisdictions.
- Analyze permitting challenges and develop innovative solutions to streamline workflows and address potential risks.
- Provide strategic guidance to internal stakeholders and property owners on regulatory best practices, compliance requirements, and ways to expedite permitting.
- Lead efforts to audit and resolve compliance gaps, ensuring permitting records are accurate and up to date.
- Build and maintain relationships with municipalities, regulatory agencies, and governing bodies to advocate for the company's interests.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Urban Planning, Land Use, or a related field is Preferred. A Master’s Degree or relevant advanced certification is a plus.
- 4+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, permitting, or a related field, with a proven track record of success in managing complex permitting processes.
- Strong knowledge of municipal codes, zoning laws, and short-term rental regulations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Experience in leading cross-functional projects and teams, with a demonstrated ability to drive results in fast-paced environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory challenges and develop effective solutions.
- Familiarity with short-term rental or real estate industries is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Salesforce, Google Workspace, or similar project management tools.
- A proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
