JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Engineers are responsible for the review of project specifications and preparation of drawings/schematics to be used in construction of various mechanical piping systems utilizing but not limited to Viega press systems. Engineers will handle all aspects of the design process, which can include analyzing the building, performing design calculations, choosing the appropriate piping systems for installation, materials, and labor estimates. Modeling of piping systems for construction or prefabrication as required.

 

THE ROLE WILL BE REMOTE BUT THE PERSON NEEDS TO LIVE IN THE FOLLOWING STATES: CALIFORNIA, WASHINGTON, NEVADA, TEXAS, or COLORADO.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS

  • Reviews project submissions for completeness
  • Establish communication with customer(s) to facilitate collaboration throughout entirety of project
  • Reviews project specifications to determine technical concerns, requirements and/or feasibility of project
  • Project ownership from beginning to end
  • Models piping system including pipe sizing and material as applicable
  • Perform system calculations including volumes, flow rates, pressures, load calculations, etc.
  • Optimize existing piping designs as applicable to improve performance, installation, or total cost of ownership
  • Provides Bill of Materials for piping system
  • Develops labor comparisons for revised piping system design
  • Provides submittal packages and specifications unique to project
  • Organizes and maintains all project revisions including models, BOM, calculations, etc.
  • Specifies equipment for piping systems based on customer needs and local requirements
  • Works closely with contractor, engineer, Sales colleagues to manage project flow

Other

  • Attends meetings as required and/or assigned
  • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned
  • Complies with the safety rules and guidelines
  • Assist colleagues with piping design reviews
  • Occasional travel will be required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of general engineering practices and their applications.
  • Strong knowledge of various piping systems and components (gas, domestic water, hydronic, air, etc.)
  • Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Excellent analytical and time management skills
  • Ability to analyze and make recommendations for workable solutions for a building’s piping needs
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to perform with superior service, reflecting a positive company image while sustaining a positive attitude with those you interact with; always going above and beyond to help others out, regardless of their position or department.
  • Understanding of construction process
  • Experience with CAD programs at some level (2D, 3D, etc.) specifically Revit preferred.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of quality while continually performing at the highest possible level.

Education, Certification/License & Work Experience

  • BS in Engineering OR Plumbing/Contractor License

AND

  • 2 -5 years of related design experience

OR

  • 10 years related industry experience
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Total Rewards Package: 

Compensation: 

  • Base: $85,000 - $95,000 annually (CO), based on specific compensable factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, and geographic market. 
  • Bonus: This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance.
