Physics Content Developer (Contract)

This position will be employed through a third party company working remotely throughout the U.S.
The Content Development contractor works on an assignment basis on short- and/or longer-term projects to develop higher ed course material such as textbooks, ebooks, digital activities, and assessment and to ensure that the content meets identified market needs and pedagogical standards in Physics and other STEM disciplines. This role will report to a development manager.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develop content with sound pedagogical underpinnings designed to address specific teaching and learning problems
- Edit the work of authors and content providers, ensuring adherence to Macmillan guidelines
- Collaborate with editorial team members, such as program managers, development editors, media editors, content project managers, and assistants
- Assist in testing product plans and execution, analyze results, and iterate
- Review content in content management tools
Required Skills / Knowledge:
- Experience developing print and digital content for the STEM higher ed curriculum, particularly physics
- Experience working with authors and content providers– directing, evaluating, and shaping their work
- Ability to use market feedback and data to shape content plans
- Familiarity with instructional design principles
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
Education Requirements:
Bachelors degree
Pay Rate: $50/hour, depending on experience
Hours: Part-time, depending on project needs, with potential for periods of no work and those of intense work requiring quick turnaround
Duration: Weeks to many months, depending on project needs
Location: Remote
