Job Summary
Accept, decline, or modify personal lines policy offerings or endorsements submitted by producers based on company underwriting guidelines and procedures; includes risk analysis, file documentation, pricing guidelines, procedural matters, research/investigation and decision making. Review underwriting reports and make recommendations for risk improvement. Listen, be responsive and provide flexibility where appropriate. If assigned, manage renewal book of business; examine changes in loss experience/driving records and risk characteristics on specific policies and take appropriate action where needed. For this position, we are seeking candidates with experience in high-value home & high-value scheduled personal property underwriting, as well as a deep understanding of what insureds expect from an insurance company in this high-value sector.
Make multiple visits to assigned agents to offer help and guidance to writing profitable business with West Bend and to build strong relationships. Work with producers to come up with goals and be proactive; keep constant contact to find out what they are prospecting, what they have quoted, what could fit West Bend.
Provide product and system training to existing and new agencies/producers. Also, be a resource for internal associates. Create training materials, training videos and conduct webinars for agents and internal associates.
Contribute insight/experience to building our book of business in the state of Arizona.
This is a fully remote/work from home role where you will spend time in the field, servicing the Arizona territory. On occasion you may be asked to travel to an office location for in-person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and company events.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Preferred Experience and Skills:
• 2-3 years underwriting experience in the state of Arizona (home, auto, umbrella, rec vehicle)• Underwriting experience in high valued homes and high value scheduled personal property• Basic knowledge of personal computers• Interpersonal skills• Analytical skills• Oral and written communication skills
Preferred Education and Training:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance or related field• Completion of General Program in Insurance
The salary range for this position is $53,459 - $80,189.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity. Compensation decisions are made by West Bend and are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
