Performance Oriented C++ / Graphics Engineer

At Rive we're building a new category of design tool that transforms how products and games are built. With our real-time vector graphics engine we make it possible for designers to build functional graphics, without creative limits, while making it easy for devs to implement.

Since launching our public beta in 2021 we’ve seen tremendous organic growth. Our customers include major product and game companies like Duolingo and Figma. We're working with legendary game studios, massive brands, apps with millions of users, car companies, and we even have Rive pixels in space! 

Rive is looking for an experienced C++ / Graphics Engineer to work on our core runtime. You will be part of a small, low-level, performance oriented team that specializes in GPU programming and C++. The runtime is what distinguishes Rive, empowering us to innovate and run everywhere.

 Some of what you’ll do:

  • Optimize and ensure the quality our existing C++ codebase
  • Work on Rive’s newly released, groundbreaking renderer
  • Implement and own the integration of our runtime and rendering pipeline into Unity 6, using the new Scriptable Render Pipeline / RenderGraph API
  • Work closely with world class designers to innovate and implement brand new features
  • Contribute to, and help maintain Rive’s automated CI workflows on GitHub
  • Design and own testing infrastructures that ensure the quality of our product across various platforms

Requirements

What you will bring

  • 5+ years of professional experience programming in C++
  • Obsession with making code FAST
  • Expertise in modern GPU rendering pipelines (Vulkan, Metal, and/or D3D12)
  • Experience in GPU shader programming (GLSL, HLSL, and/or MSL)
  • Experience working with vector instructions sets (AVX, SSE, NEON, WebAssembly SIMD)
  • Proficiency in dev tooling and automation (GitHub CI, etc.)
  • Bonus for experience in WASM, WebGL, and/or WebGPU

Location: U.S. Remote, with the ability to work core hours centered around Pacific time.

Compensation and benefits: We offer a remote work environment, comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage as well as stock options. Rive is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Compensation may depend on various factors including, but not limited to relevant work experience, skills, and geographic location. The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $190,000.
