We are looking for a People Function Internal Communications Leader to join our team in New York City. This is a full-time, permanent role, with a requirement of being in our NYC office 3 days per week.
The People Function Internal Communications Leader works closely with Marsh McLennan’s Head of People Strategy and her teams in developing and implementing communication strategies to support the impactful delivery of the Marsh McLennan People strategy and priorities.
This leader is a strategic, consultative and creative thinker, with the ability to create and deliver compelling communication programs that bring Marsh McLennan’s Colleague Value Proposition to life through themes such as leadership, career, culture, and more. This leader plays a critical role in enhancing colleague engagement, fostering a positive company culture, and promoting people-focused programs and initiatives globally across the enterprise
This leader is highly effective at developing strategic direction, delivering flawless execution, serving as a thought partner and advisor to the People Function in crafting purposeful, plan-based strategies while ensuring communications programs are carried out with the highest standards and greatest impact.
This leader will collaborate with HR teams, senior leaders, Marketing and Communications colleagues and other stakeholders across businesses and geographies to ensure measurable delivery and impact of communications, consistent messaging and alignment with Marsh McLennan’s overall narrative.
Given the enterprise/cross-business role that HR plays at Marsh McLennan, this leader will focus on developing scalable plans and assets that can be deployed in a global enablement/local activation approach where possible and in a targeted/bespoke approach for a business/geography where necessary.
We will count on you to:
Develop, manage and lead the Marsh McLennan people-focused communications strategy: Create and execute a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with and supports the successful execution of the Marsh McLennan people strategy, developing communication programs and campaigns that are grounded in the Marsh McLennan CVP pillars: Impact, Leadership, Culture, Career and Rewards. Collaborate with communication leaders at the enterprise, business and region level to understand core messages, unique needs and considerations, optimal channels and timing, and target audiences.
Develop communications strategies that support both cyclical HR activities and targeted HR programs: As part of the overall people-focused communications strategy, this leader will collaborate with HR teams and Internal Communications Leaders to develop and execute on communication plans that effectively share periodic/cyclical HR activities (e.g., goal-setting, continuous feedback, year-end, performance and rewards, colleague engagement) as well as bespoke/targeted programs (e.g., CVP campaigns, learning events).
Change Management Communications: Support the People function in their role in leading change by developing clear and compelling change communication plans to support people-focused change efforts (e.g., organizational change). Develop scalable messaging and assets that can be activated across businesses and geographies to help drive successful change implementation.
Communication Measurement and Analysis: Track and measure the effectiveness of HR communication initiatives, gathering feedback and insights to continuously improve strategies and messaging. Collaborate with internal communications leaders at the business and region levels to define and operationalize local measurement and reporting approach.
What you need to have:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required; one in Journalism or Communications is preferred
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in HR Communications, internal communications, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of HR programs, policies, and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing communication strategies and plans.
- Proficiency in utilizing various communication mediums and platforms, including digital channels, social media, and multimedia content creation.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results within deadlines.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders across functions and at all levels of the organization.
