We are currently seeking a Payroll Team Lead to join our team.

The Payroll Team Lead plays a pivotal role in guiding and developing the payroll department. This position involves coaching team members, enhancing departmental efficiency, and ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of payroll services. The Team Lead will also assist in creating, implementing, and refining policies, business processes, and systems to optimize payroll operations.

Responsibilities and Main Tasks

  • Plan, organize, and monitor payroll processing functions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve payroll issues related to compliance and system modifications.
  • Process bi-weekly payments for all employees and compile payroll data.
  • Ensure accurate and timely approval of staff hours and salary changes.
  • Maintain payroll data and files for compliance and auditing.
  • Develop and document internal procedures for implementing changes.
  • Provide accurate payroll data and ensure adherence to relevant laws and policies.
  • Prepare, compile, and review payroll reports.
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations and collaborate with other departments on policies.
  • Handle complex payroll issues and manage payroll-related projects.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of payroll-related experience as a team leader
  • Experience processing payroll for mid to large sized companies – including both salaried and hourly employees
  • University degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience/training
  • Fluent in French and English (written and spoken)
  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and validation
  • Knowledge of software packages – Nethris, Netsuite, Workday, ADP
  • Ability to motivate teams
  • Professional attitude and strong customer service focus
  • Energy, precision and analytical rigor
  • Good planning and organizing, problem-solving analysis and decision-making skills
  • Ability to evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to payroll processing and other routine tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • CPM Certification an asset
