Payroll Specialist

To this end, our Payroll team is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to assist with the coordination, processing and continuous improvement of the payroll function. In this role, you will be entrusted to audit and verify time keeping records of employees’ hours worked, as well as any deductions or withholdings required to comply with state and federal law. You will review, import, and audit payroll data for processing, and be adept at maintaining confidential information. To be successful, you should be willing to work cross-departmentally with HR and accounting, be knowledgeable of payroll taxes, proficient in Microsoft Excel, and have a solid understanding of payroll processing. This is a remote position, but the candidate must be based in Tucson, AZ, and available for occasional on-site meetings or trainings according to business needs.
Review and export payroll hours from Workday. Submit approved payroll data to the service bureau (e.g., ADP, SCP and Baker Tilly) for processing.
Balance payroll hours exported from Time and Attendance.
Balance all pay data hours/batches exported from Workday to SCP and Baker Tilly Payroll Registers.
Review computed wages and correct errors to ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of earnings.
Ensure that all changes to payroll are processed timely and correctly.
Ensure documentation of all payroll processes and procedures remain current, identify opportunities to continually improve processes and procedures, and make changes to procedures as required.
Maintain a variety of files and records that document all transactions in accordance with internal policies, rules, laws, and regulations.
Apply for State/SUI employer IDs when employees are hired in a state where CyraCom does not have a physical presence.
Partner with third party vendors SCP and Baker Tilly to implement new earning, deduction, hour, and accrual codes.
Work with our external partner for Worker’s compensation audit.
Support department and team with special projects as needed, which may require some overtime.
Maintain strict confidentiality of files, records, conversations, and sensitive employee data such as wage garnishments, withholdings, etc.
Respond to employee/supervisors/manager payroll questions. Refer Human Resources related questions to the Human Resources Manager.
Exercise a high degree of professionalism and self-motivation using personal initiative to identify and recommend best practices.
Demonstrate a continued commitment to professional education and industry best practices.
Knowledge of processing international Payroll specifically Mexico and Costa Rica.
Up to date knowledge of City, State, Provincial, Local and Federal legislation affecting payroll.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Skilled in applying the principles, practices and procedures of payroll administration.
Skilled at auditing automated payroll feeds for errors: strong attention to detail and accuracy is required.
Skilled at communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
Highly detail-oriented and skilled at completing work with a high degree of accuracy in spite of frequent work interruptions.
Highly confident working independently and thrive in an autonomous environment
Able to respond appropriately and work effectively in highly stressful situations. This includes handling payroll disputes, accomplishing work within a limited timeframe, and communicating complex policies and procedures to others.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Internet Explorer (or other internet browser) and database programs, and comfortable with video conferencing programs like MS Teams or Zoom.
Able to operate common office equipment, such as: a computer, fax machine, copier, and telephone system.
Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience with payroll processing for a company with 2000+ employees.
Sufficient computer knowledge to quickly learn and work on a daily basis with an automated payroll system and third-party vendor.
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills to accomplish a high volume of competing work assignments and routine duties within established deadlines.
Exceptional commitment to confidentiality in all payroll and human resource matters.
ERP experience, Workday experience preferred.
Wisely/EWA experience preferred.
Prior payroll platform or ERP implementation experience.

This role typically starts at rate of $25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Requires sitting or standing for extended periods
Extensive use of a computer and repetitive hand movements in the performance of duties
Occasional lifting and carrying of material weighing up to 50lbs may be required
