We are seeaking an experienced Payroll Specialist to prepare and analyze data for preparation of semi-monthly payrolls, special payrolls, payroll and tax filing analysis, and account reconciliations. This position will assist with audits, budgets, and special projects.
The position's responsibilities include the following:
- Compile, prepare, import, and analyze data for each semi-monthly payroll and special payrolls to ensure accuracy.
- Review all new hires to ensure information is accurately setup in payroll system, including Federal, State as well as any applicable local tax forms and direct deposit information.
- Review all terms, and LOAs to ensure information is accurate. Work with HR as needed to make necessary updates. Review to ensure employee files are accurate for all regular payrolls. Ensure wage frequency laws are adhered to.
- Update employee tax records, remote worker agreements, and other various changes as needed.
- Process employee master data changes and employee deduction changes files following detailed job processes to ensure accuracy.
- Process Expat related payroll information. Review for accuracy.
- Prepare post payroll reports for various departments. Review, analyze, and resolve any issues.
- Resolve various payroll/tax related issues & notices.
- Performs monthly, quarterly and calendar year end payroll procedures. Analyze, research, and resolve any issues.
- Prepares requested documents and files for annual external and internal audits.
- Work with management as necessary.
- Prepare tax and payroll check requests.
- Prepare various reports for various departments, audits, and insurance renewals. Review, analyze, and research issues as necessary.
- Cross-train on Time Collection processes and work with Time Collection team as requested.
This position allows for a hybrid work schedule with a mix of work spent in our downtown Chicago office and working remotely from home.
Qualifications
The basic qualifications for this position include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting recommended.
- 3+ years of accounting/payroll in a professional services environment required.
- Dayforce Payroll processing a plus.
The basic competencies required for this position include:
- Knowledge of accounting/payroll systems, procedures, and principles.
- Strong oral and/or written communication skills to solicit and communicate information effectively.
- Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
- High level of confidentiality.
