Role Overview:   

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to join our Central Payroll team. The Payroll Manager is responsible for the supervision and coordination of payroll processing operations. The role requires comfort around nuance and change with a complex environment. 

Compensation: $110,000 - 120,000/annually, plus annual bonus potential

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with LifeStance policies and in accordance with all federal/state/local regulations. 

  • Overseeing each payroll run; works with Payroll Specialist to help train and guide on payrolls. 

  • Keep up on the latest regulatory changes that impact payroll and implement and validate systems and processes are updated accordingly. 

  • Assists team members with resolving errors or responding to escalated inquiries.  

  • Partners with the HR Technology for updates to earnings codes, deduction codes, calculation updates. 

  • Acts as lead contact for the payroll team. 

  • Engages in Payroll related projects. 

  • Collaborates with other departments for off cycle payroll requests and escalated issues related to payroll processing. 

  • Partners with the Payroll Tax team related to tax issues. 

  • Leads all Year End activities for the Payroll Team, inclusive of W2 review. 

  • Develop appropriate SOP’s and Job-Aids  

  • Implements improvement to processes, procedures, and workflow to create efficiencies. Contributes to the development of LifeStance payroll related policies and procedures. 

  • Other payroll operational projects and duties as assigned. 

  • Reporting regularly to management 

  • Provides as backup to payroll specialists as needed. 

  • Communicate to multiple levels of management. 

Skills & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, business administration, or a similar field of study preferred. 

  • 5+ years of multi-state and multi-entity payroll administration experience 

  • Detailed knowledge of full payroll process including taxes, deductions, benefits, 401k, and federal/state regulations 

  • 3+ years experience with Workday Payroll. 

  • 2+ years experience with ADP Smart Compliance. 

  • Experience in healthcare industry preferred. 

  • Experience managing a team. 

  • Demonstrate strong Excel skills (vlookup, pivot tables, formulas, macros) 

  • Proven analytics and problem-solving skills; ability to create adhoc reports from payroll system. 

  • Serves as the lead for payroll projects. 

  • Takes initiative for review and investigation of full cycle payroll processing issues. 

  • Strong collaboration cross functionally. 

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required. 

  • Team player and willing to provide guidance to when necessary to the Payroll Specialists.  

  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
