Payroll & Benefits Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll, administration of employee benefits, and ensuring compliance with all relevant federal and state regulations. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a strong understanding of payroll and benefits procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Payroll Management:
Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
Maintain payroll records, including employee timekeeping data, salary information, and deductions.
Manage payroll-related inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management as needed.
Stay updated on payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
Benefits Administration:
Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, disability, life insurance, and other voluntary benefits.
Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and claims.
Coordinate with benefits providers and ensure accurate and timely submission of enrollment and claims data.
Manage the annual open enrollment process and ensure all employee benefits information is up to date.
Manage 401K reporting and audit process
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
Prepare and file required reports such as tax filings, W-2s, and other year-end reporting.
Conduct regular audits of payroll, benefits, and related records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
HR Support:
Collaborate with the HR team on various projects and initiatives.
Provide support during internal and external audits.
Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring proper setup and termination of payroll and benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
Certifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Workday payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll principles, benefits administration, and relevant laws and regulations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Position requires employee to be stationary at desk for extended periods of time.
Compensation ranges from $65-75k based on qualifications and experience. Competitive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, and 401k with company match.
