Payments Product Counsel

US - US - Remote

We are currently seeking an attorney with experience advising on payments and fintech products to support a sophisticated online payment platform as interim product counsel. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel to a leading online payment services platform, collaborating closely with engineering, marketing, compliance and other product development teams to ensure compliance and effective implementation of new products and services.
  • Draft and review disclosures, terms and conditions, commercial agreements, data processing agreements and other relevant contracts and documentation ensuring clarity, compliance, and protection for the company.
  • Provide expert legal guidance on Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP) regulations, guaranteeing adherence to industry best practices.
  • Review state, federal, and international regulatory changes and trends to proactively identify potential risks and proactively advise internal stakeholders.

Qualifications: 

  • 5–7+ years of legal experience, with particular experience within a fintech or payment services organization, preferably for a business-to-consumer service.
  • Deep understanding of Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP) and its impact on business-to-consumer fintech products.
  • Experience serving as Product Counsel or in a similar role, collaborating closely with engineers, project managers, marketing, and tech teams for the development of new products.
  • Excellent transactional skills and the ability to review, revise, and negotiate a wide variety of contracts.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work across a diverse range of business leaders.

 

Compensation, Benefits & Location:

This role offers a range of competitive compensation starting at $200,000 and a highly competitive benefits package in the alternative legal services marketplace that includes health benefits, 401K and more.  Axiomites also get access to professional development resources and learning and development programs. Axiomites predominately work remotely, with the exception that some clients require on-site presence.
