As our Patient Access Associate III, you will help the Patient Access Department by training and educating associates on current processes and upcoming changes. Your primary focus is to mitigate the financial risks to our hospital clients. Every day you will work in the Pre-Service Department contacting insurance companies using various means to secure patient’s eligibility insurance/coverage and clinical information needed to determine patient’s eligibility, coverage, and insurance limitations as well as confirming authorizations and completing notice of admissions (NOA). The associate will use their analytical skills to make decisions and explain coverage details. Success in this role is measured with the use of monthly productivity scorecards. To thrive in this role, you must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, team-oriented, and comfortable making outbound calls to insurance carriers. The associate will need outstanding time management skills and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks while remaining self-directed. The associate should have experience in a role that required strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills and should have demonstrated the ability to work independently and under pressure with minimal supervision. The associate should have experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet and e-mail, with demonstrated typing proficiency. The associate should have experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Here’s what you will experience working as a Patient Access Associate III:
- Ensuring the team meets production standards, deadlines and work schedules by paying close attention to the departmental functions: high quality customer service, proper procedures, quality assurance, patient privacy, and confidentiality standards
- Assisting with the selection, training, and coaching of patient account representative staff in order to meet production and quality standards
- Responsible for creating and maintaining a positive, upbeat, people oriented departmental culture by maximizing team member moral and engagement
- Initiating contact with client hospital patients’ insurance companies via telephone website using appropriate terminology to ensure the required level of benefit, pre-certification/authorization and notifications of admissions are obtained for all bedded patients, including acute emergency admissions, skilled nursing, hospice and behavioral health
