Acentra is looking for a Part-Time Medical Coder to join our growing team.

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to review the medical record to assure specificity of diagnoses, procedures and appropriate/optimal reimbursement for hospital and/or professional charges; Retrieves information from medical records, ensuring adherence with established methods and procedures.

***This is a part-time position about 10 hours a week. Need to be available for training during standard business hours which are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm EST/CST. Once training is completed there's flexibility to work nights/weekends with management approval.***

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review medical record documentation and accurately code the primary/secondary diagnoses and procedures using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 coding conventions.
  • Sequence the diagnoses and procedures using coding guidelines.
  • Ensure DRG/APC assignment is accurate.
  • Abstract and compile data from medical records for appropriate optimal reimbursement for hospital and/or professional charges.
  • Serves as backup to other administrative functions as assigned.
  • Meets job standards for achieving contract deliverables.
  • Assists with other job- and education-related duties as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Certification as a Coding Specialist.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT systems.

Compensation 

The pay range for this position is $27.81/hr - $29.47/hr.

“Based on our compensation program, an applicant’s position placement in the pay range will depend on various considerations, such as years of applicable experience and skill level.”
