Part-Time Financial Controller

We are excited to offer this opportunity for an experienced Financial controller to join our team!

As Finance Controller, you'll be the cornerstone of our finance function, owning everything from reporting and compliance to financial operations and forecasting.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll partner closely with the executive team, investors, and department heads to ensure financial health, visibility, and strategic decision-making across the business.

Type: Part Time

Hours: 22 hours per week

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (pro-rata)

Location: Remote

Key Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end financial operations, including accounting, AP/AR, payroll, tax, and statutory compliance.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and processes to support a scaling business.
  • Collaborate with CFO/CEO on fundraising activities, investor reporting, and board packs.
  • Build forecasting, budgeting, and scenario planning models to support rapid growth.
  • Manage cash flow and working capital; optimize cost control and resource allocation.
  • Oversee external relationships (auditors, tax advisors, banks).
  • Recruit and develop a high-performing finance team as the business grows
  • Support M&A, due diligence, and strategic investment initiatives.

Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • 5–8+ years of experience in finance, with at least 2–3 years in a controller or similar leadership role.
  • Experience in a high-growth or investment-backed environment (startup/scale-up ideal)
  • Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills (IFRS/GAAP).
  • Hands-on, systems-oriented, and comfortable building processes from scratch.
  • Commercially minded, strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

  • Experience with VC/PE-backed businesses or IPO-readiness.
  • Exposure to SaaS, fintech, tech, or other fast-scaling industries.
  • Familiarity with financial systems/tools (e.g., NetSuite, Xero, QuickBooks, FP&A platforms).
