Description

We seek a highly skilled and detail-oriented Parametric Design Specialist with Rhino 3D and
Grasshopper expertise to join our dynamic, innovative tensile architecture team. The primary
purpose of this role is to assist the Lead Parametric Designer in developing and optimizing
parametric models to produce parts for fabrication. The ideal candidate will possess strong
technical skills, a keen eye for design, and a passion for innovative problem-solving in
architectural, industrial, or manufacturing contexts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Lead Parametric Designer to develop and refine parametric models in Rhino 3D and Grasshopper.
  • Translate design concepts into precise, fabrication-ready models.
  • Create efficient and reusable Grasshopper and other parametric scripts to streamline the design and production process.
  • Create drafted shops and CD documents from 3d models using smart scripting.
  • Coordinate with the fabrication team to ensure parts are designed to meet material, structural, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Assist in quality control, verifying that models are error-free and aligned with project specifications.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and project management, to address design challenges and propose solutions.
  • Maintain organized digital files, version control, and documentation for all parametric workflows.
  • Stay current with advancements in parametric design tools, techniques, and industry trends.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Proficiency in Rhino 3D and Grasshopper, with a strong portfolio showcasing parametric design projects.
  • Experience in generating fabrication-ready models and understanding manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC, 3D printing, laser cutting).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug and optimize Grasshopper scripts.
  • Solidworks software experience and proficiency is a plus.
  • Knowledge of materials, tolerances, and structural considerations in fabrication.
  • Experience with additional computational design tools or programming languages (e.g., Python, C#, or Dynamo) is a plus.
  • Understanding or experience in tensile structure design and detailing a plus
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
