We are looking for a Paralegal to join our General Counsel Advice team. This is a full-time hybrid role working from home and our office in Birmingham.

The role

As a Paralegal working within the General Counsel Advice Team, your role will be pivotal in providing high level legal and administrative support across the team to provide high quality, effective and timely advice on the legal obligations and regulatory powers available to the organisation. 

This will include researching, analysing and interpreting caselaw, and delegated legislation and procedures, to support an understanding of how they practically apply to the work of the SRA. You will help the team to provide innovative solutions to complex legal problems, touching on a variety of areas of law. This may include assisting the team in drafting new professional rules and guidance and advising on the SRA’s own operations.  

You will work closely with our team members and across the organisation, and also with external stakeholders. You will be part of a high-performance culture - sharing knowledge and expertise across the team and wider business. 

The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is proactive, has a high level of attention to detail and is a team player. 

 

What we are looking for

  • Candidates should have a Qualifying Law Degree or equivalent qualification from Cilex
  • To be able to work accurately, rapidly and consistently, with close attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands
  • Good analytical and research skills with the ability to proactively support the team in providing accurate and timely legal advice
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to use a range of IT packages to include Microsoft Excel / Word/ Teams and familiarity with on line legal information services such as Lexis Nexis and Lawtel
  • Ability to work flexibly, autonomously and as a part of a team to ensure delivery of SRA’s objectives

Useful and additional information

This is a hybrid role working from one of our offices 1-2 days a week and from home the rest of the week.

The General Counsel Advice team primarily based in our Birmingham offices. This is a hybrid role and will be based in our Birmingham 1-2 days a week, and from home for rest of the week.

We welcome applicants who may be looking to achieve a balance between their personal and professional life. We are looking to appoint on a full-time basis (35 hours per week), however will consider candidates seeking part time work.
