Purpose of Position

Are you a strategic thinker with a flair for impactful communication and event coordination? Join our forward-thinking UIT leadership team as our new Operations and Communications Coordinator and work closely with the CIO to drive excellence in IT at UND!

In this vital role, you’ll spearhead marketing initiatives, plan and coordinate events, and oversee our digital content strategy across social media and the web. You’ll develop and maintain a cohesive strategic plan for integrated communications, ensuring that UIT’s initiatives shine and resonate with our community. Additionally, you’ll provide essential operational support to the CIO, Deputy CIO, and the entire UIT department, helping to achieve our strategic goals and elevate UIT’s profile.

Duties & Responsibilities

Marketing and Communications 

  • Develop and execute marketing plans for UIT events and services.
  • Create and manage internal communications across social media, web pages, newsletters, and blogs.
  • Design graphics, layouts, and visual elements for digital and print media.
  • Produce infographics, digital signage, and reports.
  • Collaborate with UND Marketing and Communications on joint initiatives.
  • Manage relationships, projects, and outreach activities.
  • Use analytics to optimize strategies and enhance engagement.
  • Plan and coordinate events like Cybersecurity Month and New Student Orientation.
  • Communicate with event organizers and track project time for capacity planning.

Assistant to the CIO

  • Manage, organize and prioritize administrative duties and tasks for the CIO/Deputy CIO office, while maintaining a high level of independence, confidentiality, and professionalism.
    • Prioritizing scheduling inquiries and requests while troubleshooting conflicts and rearranging meetings
    • Making independent judgements and recommendations to ensure a smooth day-to-day operation for the CIO & Deputy CIO.
    • RSVPing for events and coordinating with others who attend with CIO & Deputy CIO
    • Staying current with events and situations requiring the CIO & Deputy CIO’s attention
    • Keep the CIO & Deputy CIO well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities

Office Administration 

  • Support general office functions including supply management, nameplate orders, and UIT logo attire.
  • Maintain UIT distribution lists and manage key/fob inventory.
  • Promote staff engagement and plan staff activities.
  • Supervise and manage student workers, including hiring and scheduling.
  • Calendar management.
  • Attend UIT staff meetings and provide general office support.

Staff Onboarding and Offboarding

  • Ensure position descriptions are current and manage hiring processes in HR systems.
  • Coordinate new employee onboarding and terminations.
  • Participate in interview committees and collaborate on staff compensation reviews.

Required Competencies

  • Must have the ability to develop and maintain strong business relationships and the demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of the university community

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Five years with progressively responsible work experience in administrative support and/or event planning
  • Experience creating website and/or social media content 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
