About the job:

This role is within Oppfi Operational Risk Organization, with close partnerships with the business owners from Ops, Product, Marketing, and Credit. 

What you get to do:

  • Execute various strategies and process-improvement efforts across OppFi to improve risk-management, control-design and co-execution of internal/Bank processes
  • Perform root cause analysis for risk issues (e.g., issues, complaints, defects, findings etc.) with compelling reporting for all organizational levels to improve overall change-management capabilities (e.g., new initiatives) 
  • Assist business owners with the refunds and accounts updates during remediation process
  • Independently validate resolutions to ensure they adequately address root cause and evaluate where resolutions and/or corrective actions are sustainable
  • Oversee documentation and evidence provided to support the closure and remediation of issues
  • Develop reporting and trend analytics for business operation’s risk exposure and mitigation activities 
  • Prepare and support business partners for internal and external exam management from self-disclosure identification, engagement, and final report remediations
  • Partner with the business to design and implement first line monitoring controls
  • Conduct monitoring and testing, while escalating issues to the business, working with the business to develop and implement management action plans, and providing effective challenge and validation of the plan
  • Create a governance framework and repository of policies, procedures, and controls that protect our business from compliance exposure 
  • Maintain a strong sense of time management and prioritization at all times and adapt well to a fast-paced business environment
  • Regularly interface cross-functionally with almost all employee levels and departments across the business including Credit Risk and Originations, Operations, Marketing, Compliance, etc

What you will bring to the team:

  • A robust understanding of OppFi’s business and related regulations - This hands-on, relevant experience and knowledge of consumer regulatory risks (e.g., SCRA, Fair Lending, UDAAP, AML/BSA, Privacy, etc.) will enable you to design and operationalize financial service operations.
  • A passion for our FinTech mission - You’ll need at least 3+ years of experience in the FinTech (e.g., digital financial products and platform) or the financial services sector (e.g., banking, insurance, payment) to get a headstart on driving key initiatives across the business.
  • A technical acumen - SQL experience needed to obtain data and drive analytics to identify emerging risks and build forecasts
  • A passion for driving transformation - Adopting this philosophy will help you work on critical projects, while surfacing and implementing opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • A critical and analytical thinker - You’ll need these skills for supporting risk management efforts and understanding the three lines of defense, implementing approaches for assessing inherent risks, and evaluating control effectiveness.
  • A curious mindset - You’ll need this superpower to identify and evaluate trends, identify root causes, and provide quick/thorough resolution. We'll need someone with a "big picture" lens who's comfortable challenging others and influencing the business.
  • A fast learner - You’ll use this approach to understand compliance management systems, complaints management practices, and customer-level remediation processes.
  • An excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal/team-management skills - You’ll use this skill set to interact with and effectively present to all levels in an organization, including C-suite stakeholders and regulators (as required).

Total Rewards and Benefits:

The starting base salary for this position is $71,200 per year. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be at the company’s sole discretion and determined by a myriad of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, and other relevant business considerations. The total compensation package includes eligibility and potential for performance-based bonuses as well as equity grants dependent upon the role and job level.
