On-Call Senior Computational Toxicology Advisor
Nationwide Remote Office (US99)
To support ICF’s dynamic growth and expanding client base, we are seeking an On-Call Senior Computational Toxicology Advisor to work in our Health Science Portfolio. This group of 140+ science professionals provide toxicology, hazard assessment, epidemiology, risk assessment, exposure assessment, environmental modeling, and related support that addresses the full spectrum of potentially hazardous agents, including chemicals and microbes. We specialize in identifying and quantifying the effects of environmental pollutants, such as metals, pesticides, and volatile organic compounds, on human health and the environment.
The On-Call Senior Computational Toxicology Advisor’s project work would support federal agencies (such as U.S. EPA and NIEHS) in conducting and reporting the results of hazard studies and supporting risk assessments of environmental pollutants and microbes.
Location: Remote.
Hours: This is a part-time on-call position. The On-Call Senior Computational Toxicology Advisor will work between 5 and 30 hours per week to support work on an as-needed basis. The hours are flexible.
What you’ll do:
- Serve as a technical lead on projects requiring computational toxicological modeling.
- Work on a diverse team that specializes in modeling the effects of environmental pollutants, such as metals, pesticides, and volatile organic compounds, on human health and the environment. For example, we support our Federal clients in:
- Developing human health risk assessments that may include dose-response and/or pharmacokinetic modeling.
- Computational toxicology, modeling, and cheminformatics analyses to identify potential hazards of environmental chemicals to human health, and to assist in chemical classification.
- Creating custom exposure and risk models to simulate the effects of pollutants, such as lead.
- Assist in toxicological outcome prediction, metabolic prediction, PBPK modeling, or other such data analysis activities using publicly available or tailored tools and methods.
- Use your knowledge of toxicology or chemistry to make conclusions on biological plausibility of chemical analogs and/or metabolites in order to make sound risk assessment conclusions.
- Scope, create, test, and document scientific code and user interfaces for various types of models.
- Conduct data and statistical analysis involving Excel, Access, R, SAS, Python, SQL, VBA, and/or other software.
- Synthesize scientific findings and communicate them through various formats and media (e.g., written reports, online websites, visualizations).
- Mentor junior coders in appropriate methods for developing and implementing environmental models.
What you’ll need:
- Ph.D. in toxicology, pharmacology, environmental science, or related subject.
- At least 20 years of relevant toxicological work experience in a post-doc or other role after completion of your PhD.
