About the role
- We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Network Engineer to join our robotic operations team. Here at Forterra we are looking for candidates who are interested in staying on the cutting edge as we develop new products that drive the future generation of autonomous vehicles. The Network Engineer will act as Forterra’s primary technical expert Linux network stack management and network configurations.
What you'll do
- Evaluate new network architectures, including modeling and assessment of network behaviors.
- Derive hardware and software requirements form high-level concepts / specifications.
- Perform networking tests at the component level, subsystem level, and system level.
- Analyze and assess verification and validation results.
- Conduct network analyses to include safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, and system security.
- Develop and maintain network monitoring and introspection tools.
- Be the main point of triage and debugging of in-the-field network challenges concerning our mobile ground robotic platforms.
Qualifications
- Experience with Linux Operating Systems.
- Excellent Software and Hardware troubleshooting ability at the system level, network level, and individual component levels.
- Knowledge of troubleshooting tools (network analyzers, scopes, Wireshark, etc.)
- Ability to obtain a Secret level clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to architect multi-modal communication frameworks for military and commercial applications.
- Understanding of challenges with wireless, wired, cloud, and satellite communications paradigms.
- Understanding and experience with common networking protocols. Examples include link aggregation, routing protocols, TCP/UDP and IP, ARP table management, iptables, fail-over, etc.
- Experience with Linux network stack management.
- Experience with real world networking and communication devices.
- Understanding of frequencies, licensing, and network access controls.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study.
- 5+ years of networking-related experience.
US Salary Range
$120,000—$145,000
The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra’s overall compensation package.
