JOB DESCRIPTION

The role of the Network Engineer IV is to lead, strategize, design, build and maintain a highly secure, resilient, and performance-oriented enterprise network for the large array of Michael Baker sites and locations across within the US and Globally. This position can also lead teams and manage staff responsible for the strategy, design, build and maintenance of desktops including software and all aspects of user roles and groups as well as asset management.  This role will require a have a deep understanding of LAN/WAN/SDWAN technologies, wireless, cloud networking technologies (primarily Azure) and significant utilization and specialization in Fortinet technologies to join our growing IT team.   A strong background in network security, routing, and performance optimization is required. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•             Provide engineering expertise and guidance for the design, development, implementation, operations, and sustainment of network services that enhance overall system performance and availability.

•             Lead the research, analysis, solution design and implementation planning of solution for the modernization of existing network solutions and infrastructures.

•             Drive strategic technological innovation, demonstrating a breadth and depth of knowledge in all things related to the complex operations of networking services.

•             Provide technical knowledge and analysis of high-level functional systems analysis, design, integration advice on complex matters that require expert level knowledge of the subject matter for effective implementation.

•             Responsible for the Operations and Maintenance of network services for the company.

•             Guides the Network Engineers to perform monitoring, installation, modification, testing and servicing of network equipment.

Supervisory Responsibilities 

•             Mentor network team, ITS staff, and program members to facilitate growth, internal career development, and overall satisfaction and retention objectives.

•             Participate as senior member, during hiring process, working towards building a high performing team across Information Technology

Experience 

•             15+ years of design, development, implementation of network services

•             15+ Years developing and enforcing network policies, standards and guidelines

•             Promote the Information Security training and awareness program

•             Participate as part of the Team of the Disaster Recovery and Resilience implementation

•             Establish and maintain metrics and program control mechanisms to track program progress as well as the current state of network architecture. 

•             Maintain expertise on security trends through training, research and development to mitigate potential security exposures.

•             Collaborate with Information Security and ITS to establish an effective approach leveraging an audit process ultimately building out a continuous monitoring construct.

•             Strong knowledge and understanding of several vendor platforms including Fortinet.

•             Experience in service delivery management areas such as, procurement, annual budget forecasting, deployment, maintenance, monitoring, health and performance reporting.

•             Strong working knowledge information security concepts, terms, standard practices, and regulatory compliance requirements such as CMMC, DFARS/FARS, GDPR, Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), NIST 800-53, 800-171, and CIS Benchmarks, etc.

Education 

•             BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems

•             Master’s degree preferred

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

•             A minimum of fifteen (15) years of professional experience

•             Pro-active, strategic approach to problem solving. 

•             Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills. 

•             Demonstrated ability to collaborate with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, business and functional representatives, and vendors / consulting partners. 

•             Ability to identify project impacting issues and work with control owners and various IT solution teams to develop and implement solutions. 

•             Strong collaboration skills and a demonstrated ability to approach technical and business solutions in a consultative manner. 

Licenses/Registrations 

Relevant network engineering certification such as Fortinet Certified Solution Specialist, Fortinet Certified Professional, Cyber Ops, or other network specific certifications

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $119,000 to $166,000.  This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
