Network Engineer

We have an IMMEDIATE NEED for a Network Engineer to provide technical support for the development, test, deployment, and sustainment of a complex telecommunication system.  As a Network Engineer on this program, you will be a member of a team that interacts with technical and non-technical teammates, including customers and vendors.  In this role, you will be required conduct surveys, assist with the designing of installation packages, conducting equipment and cable installations, administer configurations, providing technical assistance, supporting commissioning testing, troubleshooting, and resolving issues associated with the various network elements.

This is a remote position, but will require you travel up to 90% of the time.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conduct Site Surveys and installations for Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) in CONUS and OCONUS locations as required to assess/analyze site preparedness and develop implementation plans, power requirements, and associated cost estimates.
• Ensure design, installation, and network cabling infrastructure and medium are installed and compliant with current NIST and DISN Standards.
• Build and install equipment racks.
• Configure Cisco, Ciena, Safenet network elements per Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) guidelines.
• Assist with the development of method of procedures (MOP) and creating MBOM (Manufacturing Bill of Materials) for power and network equipment requirements for projects.
• Execute the actions identified in the TSIP to accomplish the tasks required to bring the installed equipment into operational readiness.
• Perform on site configuration of equipment and installation test and acceptance (IT&A) of network components and facilitate remote testing with off-site Operations Engineering support.
• Conduct installation/de-installation/upgrade/interface actions associated with network components at user locations.
• Support senior staff as required to meet customer requirements and project milestones.
• Assist with the preparation of engineering project packages and TSIPs for installation teams to include installation instructions, power requirements, industry specifications and references, CADD drawings, and BOMs.
• Perform redline updates to project deliverables, by incorporating sub-contractors' field redline drawings and ensuring changes are reflected on master documents.
• Submit expenses, timecards, and other administrative tasks within the specified timelines.
• Have flexible working hours to be available to support off hour work, when needed.
• Test and troubleshoot network infrastructure issues.
• Create accurate reports and documentation to design/certify network infrastructure.
• Comply with all safety requirements and all required training, following the guidance provided in Leidos policies, procedures, and manuals.
• Provide government and contractor project managers weekly status updates on project actions.
• Perform other tasks, duties and assignments as required.
