The Multimedia Producer is a creative and collaborative role that will pitch, research, source, create, edit, and produce several bespoke images, videos and graphics each day for stories that cover a variety of content, including breaking news, feature stories, original interviews, and more. The ideal candidate is eager to learn and master AI and non-AI tools to create visually compelling content that maximizes impact across the web and digital platforms.

You stay adaptable and flexible and are not afraid to try new things in changing circumstances. 

Topics expected to be covered include but are not limited to: US politics and elections, wars, international diplomacy, consumer finance, shipping, travel, health and fitness, lifestyle, science, current affairs, and personal essays. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Source, pitch, create, edit and produce several bespoke photos, videos and graphics per day that illustrate and enhance stories on our homepage, website, social media, third-party and other platforms maximize impact, reach and engagement 
  • React to breaking/trending news stories as and when they happen 
  • Learn and use non-AI and AI tools to generate and edit visual content. Tools include Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Canva, ClipChamp, Firefly, Flourish, Google Earth Studio and more 
  • Work with reporters, editors and other editorial groups to optimize and brainstorm ideas to for visual storytelling; assist with newsroom requests 
  • Ensure all content meets the newsroom's standards for accuracy, quality, and style. 
  • Manage different editing schedules and projects of complexity and work successfully under tight deadlines and in high-pressure situations 
  • Be open to testing new emerging tools that can be implemented within multimedia and the wider newsroom 
  • Work flexibly and adapt to changing goals and priorities 
  • Upload videos to YouTube that engage with audiences to increase subscribers  
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as necessary to meet the needs of the business. 

Qualifications: 

  • 1-3 years of proven experience as a video producer or a similar role for a digital media publication, with a strong portfolio of work 
  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects 
  • Proficient in all aspects of multimedia production, from sourcing stories/videos, editing video. setting up Zoom or in-person interviews, writing scripts, putting photo elements together, cropping photos 
  • Proficient storytelling skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in an engaging way. 
  • Ability to work in a team or independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously; a self-starter 
  • Must be open to using AI tools to produce content  
  • Believes in Newsweek’s mission and goals  
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills 
  • Ability to adapt quickly, stay flexible and work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines  
  • Open and/or interest in finding and testing emerging AI tools and technologies that can help increase productivity of creative tasks and maximize workflow 
  • Must speak fluent English 

Desirable:

  • Experience with data visualization and interactive storytelling 
  • Knowledge and/or experience of Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign 
  • Experience in graphic design, motion graphics and/or animation 
  • Familiarity with using social media, Google Trends and other news discovery tools 
  • Knowledge and experience with camera operating, filming, being on set, live events 
  • Knowledge of SEO principles and social media best practices. 
  • Photography experience  

 

Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000
