Department Overview:

The Multicultural Student Center (MSC), located in the Red Gym, provides support, advocacy, and co-curricular experiences that center, affirm, and celebrate the diverse and intersectional identities of students of color. Our spaces, programs and services are designed to cultivate a sense of belonging and community while strengthening all students’ capacity to learn, lead and thrive.

Anticipated Hours Per Week:

10-12

Schedule:

Weekly 1x1 w/ supervisor (1 hour)
Bi-weekly All Intern meeting (1.5 hours)
Bi-weekly Programming Intern meeting (1.5 hours)
Administrative tasks (Ex. event planning, logistics, responding to emails, social media management) (2 hours)
Program attendance (2 hours)

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

$16.00

Qualifications:

2.0 Cumulative G.P.A. Required for Hire
Must be an undergraduate
Written/verbal communications skills
Proven collaboration skills
Familiarity with social justice and identity work
Leadership and Involvement on campus
Excellent customer service skills
Have knowledge and experience in event planning and implementation
Familiarity with social media
Familiarity with Canva or similar software
Be able to work independently with strict deadlines for programs and events

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Excellent written/verbal communications skills
Ability to lead and work in teams
Knowledge of social justice
Experience with social media and event management
Ability to work independently under strict deadlines

Position Summary/Job Duties:

Take lead in planning MSC involvement events including but not limited to; Multicultural New Student Welcome, Earth Week, Women’s History Month, etc.
Work with the communications team to update social media with MSC programming
Engage in collaboration with other campus partners with similar programming and goals
Assess programs and collect feedback from campus and student attendees
Hold “office hours” or time in the center to work on projects and assignments
Assist MSC staff with special projects
