Model Manager
Aztec West, Bristol - with flexibility of working from home, minimum 3 days a week in the office, with occasional travel to France.
Do you have strong 3D Modelling and Problem-Solving skills to support complex business challenges, with an eye for detail and the ability to get things right first time? If so, come and join us as a Model Manager!
The Opportunity
EDF EPR Engineering UK (EPR-E) is tasked with delivering the design for several nuclear island (NI) buildings, systems, and equipment contracts for the Hinkley Point C EPR Project. This involves working through an integrated team, supporting HPC construction and commissioning efforts, and preparing design replication feasibility and engineering activities for the Sizewell C Project. As a result, a Technical Directorate is being established to oversee the engineering disciplines and technical expertise needed to successfully deliver these projects through EPR-E’s integrated teams.
As the Model Manager, you’ll join the EPR-E CAD Design Office Team, focusing on a designated building or group of buildings. Acting as the primary point of contact for discipline engineers, you will serve as the expert responsible for managing and overseeing the PDMS/E3D model for the assigned building(s).
Pay, benefits and culture
Alongside a salary between £59,000 - £64,000 (Grade B), depending on experience, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include a range of benefits, from the big and formal to the small and personal.
We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

What you’ll be doing
As the Model Manager, you will act as the go-to expert for knowledge related to specific buildings, addressing layout and piping challenges, resolving clash detection issues, and providing updates on the overall status of FITS. You will also handle technical queries, ensuring they are resolved efficiently and effectively.
A critical part of your role will involve performing detailed checks of the PDMS/E3D model using EDF tools. You will be responsible for managing WeCAD tasks, including developing work plans, conducting thorough checks, and approving work within the WeCAD system. Oversee the 3D model aspects of CAD tasks, ensuring they align with the overall building design and comply with all required standards. This includes identifying and resolving errors in the PDMS/E3D design by collaborating closely with various engineering disciplines.
A solid understanding of UKDC procedures, workflows, and compliance levels will be essential. Additionally, you will manage necessary data injections into the PDMS/E3D model to keep it accurate and up-to-date. Finally, you will be responsible for providing and producing various model conversions as needed to support the project’s requirements, ensuring seamless integration across all elements of the design process. This role requires exceptional technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Who you are
As the Model Manager, you will possess relevant higher education qualifications, such as a degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a similar field. A strong background in a design office environment is essential, coupled with knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines, including pipework, electrical systems, HVAC, and civil engineering.
Expertise in PDMS/E3D and AutoCAD is a must, alongside a solid understanding of general layout rules and technical constraints related to plant layout and design. The ability to learn and comprehend the complexities of large, intricate buildings is critical for success in this position.
You will be able to demonstrate proficiency in managing design and layout constraints effectively and have experience creating complex documents and design procedures. Strong technical knowledge and a problem-solving mindset will be key to thriving in this role.
If this sounds like you then we’d love to hear from you!
