Member and Donor Relations Specialist

The Association of Women's Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) is a not-for-profit membership organization that promotes the health of women and newborns. Our mission is to empower and support nurses who care for women, newborns, and their families through research, education, and advocacy.
Position Overview
The Member and Donor Relations Specialist plays an integral role in strengthening AWHONN’s relationships with members and donors, supporting both engagement and fundraising efforts. As a membership association, this role involves coordinating and implementing strategies for member recruitment, retention, and engagement, while also advancing donor-related initiatives for the Every Woman, Every Baby (EWEB) program.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Membership Engagement and Retention:
· Respond promptly and effectively to member inquiries across various communication channels, ensuring member satisfaction.
· Collaborate on member retention strategies and assist in developing communications that highlight member benefits and opportunities.
· Support onboarding initiatives, ensuring timely distribution of new member materials and renewals.
· Generate and analyze membership-related reports and performance metrics.
· Serve as the primary contact for membership data queries and provide reports and mailing lists as needed.
· Coordinate and support membership events, webinars, and programs to enhance engagement.
· Regularly review and update membership webpages for content accuracy and propose new ideas to improve the member experience.
Donor Relations and Fundraising:
· Work with the Director of Membership Development to implement donor recruitment, cultivation, and stewardship strategies.
· Act as the main point of contact for donor engagement activities, ensuring a high level of service.
· Assist in planning and implementing fundraising events and campaigns, including those held during AWHONN’s annual convention.
· Manage the processing of online donations and maintain accurate donor records.
· Track donor engagement metrics and create reports to inform future fundraising initiatives.
· Collaborate with marketing and other departments to craft compelling donor communications.
Additional Administrative Support:
· Provide administrative support for Membership and Development Committees, including scheduling meetings and preparing materials.
· Maintain inventory of membership and fundraising collateral.
· Support on-site membership and donor activities as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements
· College degree in a related field and 2-4 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in membership services, engagement, and volunteer support, preferably in a nonprofit or association environment.
· Solid organizational and project management skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
· Strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Competency in using Association Management Systems (AMS) and strong skills in Microsoft Office.
· Technologically adept, with the ability to learn new software and experience using various social networking platforms.
· Self-motivated, capable of working independently, collaborating in a team, and engaging with geographically dispersed members.
· Proven ability to provide high-level customer service, especially to engaged VIPs and stakeholders.
· Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining productive relationships across the organization.
· Experience working with volunteer leaders and committees, including recruiting and training.
· Ability to make independent decisions, apply sound judgment, and offer informed recommendations.
· This role requires travel domestically approximately 2-3 times per year.
