In this vital role with Amgen, the Medical Science Liaison (Sr. MSL) will interact with Immunology, Hematology, and Infectious Disease Healthcare Decision Makers to communicate and advance the scientific platform as aligned with Amgen's corporate goals and objectives. This role is a field based position, in the rare disease pillar of Amgen Medical Affairs providing support of the Ultra-Rare Medicines portfolio, primarily focused on Actimmune, interferon gamma-1B. The MSL is an integral position in assuring accurate, clear and valued information regarding our scientific platform is communicated to multiple levels within the medical community. The successful MSL will communicate complex cutting-edge scientific information and research concepts to healthcare decision makers including but not limited to those at Community practices and Academic Medical Centers.

This position is a field based within the territory of the east coast to include NY/NJ/DC/PA.

The MSL will:

  • Foster scientific relationships between Amgen and key Opinion Leaders and/or Healthcare Professionals in the field.
  • Provide feedback based on field interactions with healthcare thought leaders to Amgen stakeholders to help drive medical strategy.
  • Support Amgen sponsored research and respond to requests for investigator sponsored research proposals.
  • Provide clinical and economic value information to payers and formulary decision makers.
  • Provide scientific support, consistent with the MSL compliance standards, for commercial, corporate accounts, and other matrix colleagues who may forward HCP inquiries.
  • Lead and/or participate on committees or project teams that support MSL strategies and tactics as delegated by MSL leadership.
  • Seek out opportunities to support the MSL value proposition, achieve results and set an example for others to follow by consistently demonstrating Amgen Values and Leadership Attributes.
  • Demonstrate tact and professionalism when communicating and interacting with others.
  • Model openness and innovation through words, actions, and decisions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree​

OR​

  • Master’s degree & 3 years of Medical Affairs experience ​

OR​

  • Bachelor’s degree & 5 years of Medical Affairs experience​

Preferred Qualifications

  • PharmD., Ph.D., M.D. or D.O. (Other Doctoral Degrees considered) 3 or more years of experience in a medically related field, including 1 or more years focused on clinical practice, clinical research, or medical research. Experience in a medically related field can include post doctoral training (e.g. residencies and/or fellowships).
  • 1-2 yrs of Medical Affairs at a biotech or pharmaceutical company
  • Experience in Immunology preferred.
  • Rare disease experience preferred.
  • Experience within designated territory

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
