At GDIT, people are our differentiator. Seize your opportunity to make a personal impact as a Medical Cyber Expert supporting The Dept. of Veterans Affairs Transformation Support Services program critical to the Dept. of VA.

Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will act as the Medical Cyber Expert lead from the contractor side supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Information Technology (OIT) Transformation Support Services (TSS) program.  The candidate requires strong medical device knowledge in a clinical environment to support and maintain a security posture that is compliant with all VA and broader U.S. Government security policies regarding the baseline of medical equipment in use by VA at over 1,200 locations. Ideally, this candidate will interface with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and OIT counterparts at VA to baseline the inventory scope and medical device expansion required. Support will include scanning, detection, logging and remediation of all medical equipment to the proper level to meeting Information Security Office requirements. The candidate will have knowledge and background in leading Continuous Readiness in Information Security Program (CRISP) for medical devices in a highly decentralized enterprise environment with size and complexity similar to VA. The candidate will be expected to mature customer relationships to support strategic interaction and executive briefings. This candidate will work closely with multiple VA Information Security Office stakeholders to maintain an optimum operational status across the VA enterprise.

This candidate will lead a team of highly focused IT staff to support CRISP across VHA installations. Core capabilities include leading a team to establish baselines and perform continuous cyber security reviews and remediation.  The primary focus for this position is cybersecurity remediation services – patching and upgrades to negate vulnerabilities in medical devices.  The candidate will need to be versed in VA’s CRISP program or a program of similar size, tasking complexity, and understand the relevant support areas including configuration and organizational change management.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading a team of highly qualified, geographically diverse, technical staff to support readiness of security patching and upgrades of medical devices
  • Forging relationships with VHA and OIT division leaders as well as other Contracting leads across VA’s multi-vendor environment
  • Present strategies, objectives risks and timelines to achieve the desired OIT ISO objectives
  • Reviewing trends of Information Security Office actions to support continuous improvement of medical devices
  • Provide thought leadership to VA in progressing their CRISP program
  • Identify opportunities to satisfy material weakness findings and vulnerability support
  • Capture and report on quantity-based performance metrics used to track CRISP functions for status reporting
  • Utilize professional judgement, critical thinking skills and research to improve program processes and resolve issues affecting program performance
  • Document VA requests via action items and develop materials to respond to these requests
  • Execute change and resource management processes that integrate with the multi-district CRISP program governance processes
  • Support action item management and definition and mitigation of program risks
  • Support real-time transparency reporting for all support staff within an assigned district
