Overview
BerryDunn is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Medicaid Practice Group that will have an initial focus support our client in West Virginia as a Medicaid Policy and Systems Analyst. As part of our consulting team focused on state Medicaid agency clients, you will leverage your problem-solving abilities, along with subject matter expertise and Medicaid systems knowledge to help state Medicaid agencies translate policy and program needs into system requirements.
BerryDunn is seeking a Medicaid Policy and Systems Analyst responsible for subject matter expertise in both Medicaid policy and systems used within the Medicaid enterprise, such as Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS) modules or Integrated Eligibility Systems (IES). This position is also responsible for:
- Medicaid policy research and analysis
- Medicaid systems research and analysis, including but not limited to, member benefit groups, billing codes, system configuration, service limits, system requirements, and electronic billing standards.
- Deliverable creation and project management/support, including, but not limited to, meeting facilitation and participation, creating and reviewing project documentation and reporting, providing regular status updates, and identifying, tracking, and monitoring action items, risks, and issues.
Depending on the project, this role may be responsible for leading a workstream within a project and directing and overseeing work of the team members within the workstream.
This position can be remotely-based or based at BerryDunn’s offices in West Virginia, Maine, Connecticut, Massachusetts, or New Hampshire. This role will be required to work the same time zone as the client. The Medicaid Policy and Systems Analyst will help clients nationally with an initial focus on the West Virginia (State) Department of Human Services (DoHS). The Medicaid Policy and Systems Analyst will report to and partner with senior management in our Medicaid Practice Group both for client work and career development. The Medicaid Policy and Systems Analyst will bring a mix of Medicaid policy and systems subject matter expertise and business analysis, demonstrated project management support capabilities, strong relationship management skills, and deep systems implementation experience. Travel Expectations: Willingness to travel 35 – 50%.
You Will
- Provide expert guidance ensuring the program, policy, and business needs of the State are correctly captured and translated into system needs and requirements.
- Advise and assist clients with translating Medicaid policy and program needs into systems needs and change requests with industry recognized language, for example, translating Medicaid policy into creating system benefits.
- Serve as a senior systems expert with a strong understanding of the Medicaid vendor marketplace and system implementations.
- Build relationships with project team members including client contacts, vendor contacts, and other invested parties.
- Communicate project and delivery status to our clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
- Utilize knowledge and experience to lead and manage client projects, particularly related to Medicaid systems. This includes helping develop client deliverables such as complex analysis reports, ongoing status reports, data and technical strategy plans, and presentations.
- Facilitate meetings and training with the project team, including the client and client vendors to achieve project goals.
- Perform reviews of contracts, deliverables, and other vendor materials with guidance of senior colleagues.
- Assist with monitoring quality assurance and control procedures.
- Help manage enterprise level risks, issues, and decisions.
You Have
- Bachelor’s degree – May substitute four years of applicable experience for degree.
- Minimum of 3 years’ direct experience working for a State Medicaid Agency.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working on systems implementation projects in areas such as requirements gathering, requirements management and tracking, programming, release management, systems architecture, and/or testing activities.
- Minimum of 2 years’ Medicaid system configuration experience is required.
- Medicaid policy research, analysis, development, and/or implementation experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Change request / change process experience related to Medicaid systems.
- Medicaid waiver and / or managed care experience.
- Medical coding and billing experience.
Compensation Details
The base salary range targeted for this role is $110,000 - $135,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
