Mechanical Engineer - HVAC (Hybrid Remote)

Salary: $100,000 - 140,000/yearThis position allows for 2 days per week remote / work from home after training. We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team, specializing in the design and implementation of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems, with a focus on Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience in building systems design, and the ability to collaborate effectively with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Analysis: Develop detailed designs for MEP and HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and local codes. Utilize software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) for modeling and analysis.
  • System Sizing and Selection: Perform calculations for load determination, equipment sizing, and system selection to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate MEP systems into overall building designs. Attend project meetings to provide technical insights.
  • Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including specifications, drawings, and design reports, for client review and regulatory submissions.
  • Energy Efficiency: Analyze and implement energy-saving measures and sustainable design practices in MEP and HVAC systems.
  • Site Assessments: Conduct site visits to assess existing systems, gather data, and provide recommendations for upgrades or retrofits.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure designs meet all applicable codes and standards, including ASHRAE, IMC, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Review peer designs and provide feedback to ensure quality and accuracy in all engineering work.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in MEP and HVAC systems design, preferably within a consulting or engineering firm.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus; EIT may be considered for entry-level positions.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in HVAC load calculation software (e.g., Trane Trace, Carrier HAP) and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of HVAC principles, building codes, and energy efficiency standards.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
