SUSTAINABLE AND RESILIENT SOLUTIONS PRACTICE
Sustainable and Resilient Solutions (SRS) is a business entity within Michael Baker International. The SRS focuses on MEP+ Building Engineering Services with a focus on Energy and Water Conservation, Carbon Neutrality, Resiliency, and Distributed Energy Projects. As a Mechanical Engineer in the SRS, this individual will be responsible for providing mechanical engineering expertise. In this role, the successful candidate will design the mechanical aspects of projects, work with the senior mechanical engineers on projects and work with our project managers.
The role also requires the candidate to evaluate, select, and apply industry standard engineering techniques and procedures related to mechanical engineering; carry out project design work; Prepare designs, specifications, and construction documents; Apply QA/QC requirements to own work.
DESCRIPTION
As part of our Mechanical Engineering Design Team, you will primarily provide planning, design, and construction support for a variety of projects related to a variety of building types. You will provide input to the preparation of RFP documents, construction drawings, and specifications. You will build and maintain important relationships with the team, customers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Lead and/or contribute to the mechanical engineering design efforts on one or more projects.
- Perform mechanical evaluation and design of facilities (HVAC systems, mechanical piping, building services piping, plumbing systems, compressed ai r systems, energy auditing, etc.)
- Perform load and energy modeling calculations.
- Prepare complex studies, calculations, reports, construction specifications, and other supporting documentation.
- Supervise the preparation of construction drawings related to new and existing structures.
- Clearly convey information to internal and external clients.
- Adhere to budget and schedule of projects.
- Assist with defining scope of work and man-hour estimates.
- Travel occasionally, as required.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- You’ll need a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
- You’ll need a minimum of 4 years’ experience in commercial or industrial facility maintenance or design.
- You’ll need to be registered as a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of California or be eligible to become registered by comity from another state.
- You’ll need to be a U.S. Citizen with no dual-citizenship.
- You should have good English language skills, both written and verbal.
- You’ll need to be organized and assertive. You’ll also need to be able to network and build relationships with a wide variety of people.
- You’ll need computer skills using the Microsoft Office Suite.
- You’ll need to be a motivated self-starter who displays a passion for solving problems, interacting in a team environment, and meeting established deadlines.
- You’ll need to have experience using Revit, AutoCAD, Trane Trace 700 or 3D, or equivalent load software experience.
- It would be a plus if you have experience engineering both HVAC and plumbing systems.
- It would be a plus if you have knowledge of the Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and Unified Facilities Guided Specifications (UFGS).
COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $103,000 to $162,000, depending on the candidates’ individual experience and expertise.
