About the Role

Reporting to an Australian team leader, the Mechanical Draftsperson is responsible for creating and refining technical drawings for production, supporting product development through detailed design work, and providing technical support for the sales team. Additionally, they research components, assist in lighting designs for sales projects, and maintain internal documentation to ensure the accuracy and availability of resources for the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Production Drawings: Create accurate technical drawings and CAD designs to support product manufacturing and development.
• Review & Revisions: Regularly review, revise, and update technical drawings based on feedback or new specifications to ensure they meet design requirements.
• Component Research: Investigate and recommend suitable components or materials for use in product designs, ensuring they meet quality and performance standards.
• Lighting Design (Sales Support): Assist the technical sales team by providing lighting designs and layouts that meet customer specifications and industry standards. If not already proficient, Lighting Design will be trained.
• Resource Creation: Develop and file internal technical documentation, including manuals, guides, and design resources, for easy access and reference by the team.
• Prototype Pricing & BOM: Generate Bill of Materials (BOM) and estimate prototype costs, working closely with the R&D and production teams to ensure accurate pricing.

Experience & Software

• Proficiency in CAD software, specifically SolidWorks.
• Experience with Western environment and have excellent communication skills.
• Strong background in mechanical drafting, preferably with knowledge of electrical components.
• Strong understanding of mechanical or electrical engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to do design and out-of-the-box thinking.
• Attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality, production-ready designs.
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and project-management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and production.
