JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
P50 Capstone Center for Excellence at Penn State in the College of Health and Human Development is seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications plans to promote research focusing on child maltreatment.
You will work closely with our research team to create engaging content, manage social media, and analyze results to ensure maximum impact. Your goal will be to increase brand awareness and reputation through innovative communications tactics.
What You’ll Do:
- Plans, develops and executes marketing and communications plan consistent with research center's goals and approach. Identifies needs for marketing and communications outreach and develops plans and materials to address those needs.
- Responsible for working with subject matter experts and outside organizations to develop and produce communications materials, including presentations, executive summaries, videos, print materials, newsletters, advertising, talking points and social media graphics.
- Manages the marking, communications and media platforms for the research center.
- Evaluate and assess engagement of media efforts. Work towards increasing engagement on all platforms.
- Create and maintain a communications calendar encompassing print, digital, email, text, recurring and campaign communications.
- Regularly participate in ongoing personal professional development activities to remain well-informed of current trends and best practices
- Translating scientific information into concise, reader-friendly language with writing and proofreading reports, fact sheets, blogs, briefing materials, social media and other materials.
- Collaborate within the research center to cultivate relationships with outside collaborators and implement effective strategies for research center media coverage in the child maltreatment areas (print, broadcast, digital)
Skills You Have:
- Expertise with office and writing software (Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, EndNote)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Proven track record of success in developing and executing communications campaigns
