Role Summary

Do you want to use your skills for meaningful work increasing carbon free energy on the electric grid? Renew Home, the leader in providing residential energy resources to the grid, is seeking a Market Operations Manager to help us bring and grow clean energy and capacity in the California, New York, and other energy markets. ​​

As a Market Operations Manager, you’ll be part of the team responsible for the day-to-day fulfillment of Renew Home’s multi-million dollar portfolio of energy market contracts through operating our virtual power plants (VPPs) built by a network of residential energy users in various regions across the country, including California, New York, and increasingly the mid-Atlantic.

As a member of Renew Home’s VPP Operations team, you will execute key operational tasks for running the VPP in our existing (California and New York) and new markets. These will include oversight of core VPP Operations tasks such as event planning, bid optimization, and reporting; drafting and implementing operational procedures in new markets in coordination with the Market Development team; and working with external parties (e.g., utilities and regulators) to ensure contract fulfillment and compliance. Your day-to-day work will focus particularly on our entry into and operations in the PJM electricity market, the largest energy market in the country.

This role will report to the director of VPP Operations, Sarah Millar.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee execution of operational tasks on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to support VPP operations across multiple electric markets.
  • Work closely with the Market Development team to determine and design operational solutions for entry into new energy markets.
  • Lead projects for building operational infrastructure necessary to participate in and optimize value from existing and new energy markets.
  • Identify potential revenue sources for the VPP product in existing and new markets.
  • Support financial recognition including invoicing, data requests, and modeling.
  • Work externally with contract counterparties, and regulatory agencies to satisfy operational, compliance, and regulatory requirements, particularly in new markets.
  • Work across internal teams including Engineering, Finance, Policy, Marketing, and Product to deliver a best-in-class customer experience while meeting operational and strategic milestones.
  • Provide internal reporting based on user growth, performance, and financial milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study or 3+ years work experience in a relevant role.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Ability to navigate internal and external stakeholder teams and build strong working relationships.
  • Comfort with and ability to make decisions and lead under uncertainty.
  • Excellent 1-on-1 and team communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fully-remote work environment.
  • Bonuses:
    • Experience in electric market operations strongly preferred.
