Here’s your chance to join our award-winning agency, ICF Next. We’re changemakers, a community of mission driven creatives, communicators, strategists, and technologists. We’re searching for a Managing Editor. As a Managing Editor, you will:
Serve as the managing editor of a federal publication designed to inform policy decision making and understanding of the criminal justice system.
Attend virtual meetings with the editorial board help shape ideas for publication content.
Lead production activities including coordination of layout, proof submissions, printing specifications, delivery of files, and web-based content.
Coordinate with senior leadership, staff, subject matter experts, and others on content and reviews of drafts.
Collaborate with writers and provide recommendations and guidance recommended content and angle, tone, and format.
Write and edit articles, advertisements, announcements, and web content, as called upon.
Coordinate copyediting and proofreading of content.
Coordinate all elements of internal and external content review among writers, agency leadership, and other stakeholders.
Basic Qualifications:
Five or more years of directly relevant work experience writing and editing print publications
Three or more year of relevant experience in justice, national security, and/or law enforcement
Superior writing and editing skills
Portfolio with work samples
Proficiency in the GPO Style Manual and APA Style
Able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Clearance (federal government background check)
Preferred Skills and Experience:
A self-starter and problem solver who is highly organized and has the ability to support multiple priorities; working successfully in a team environment
Strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills
Experience supporting a government or federal agency
Experience with both print and digital publications
