WHAT YOU’LL DO
All Development team roles are responsible for cultivating, stewarding, and managing a portfolio of donors in our local communities who share our commitment to ensuring that all children have access to an equitable and excellent education. As a member of the Field Fundraising team, you will be a part of a team-based effort charged with developing and executing a long-term vision and strategy to achieve our development goals for both public and private funding. In your role, you will partner with Executive Directors, regional staff, and other front-line fundraisers to maximize giving in the private and public sectors.
Reporting to the Senior Managing Director, Development you will be charged with building collaborative relationships with a cohort of local Executive Directors and regional development teams to raise $2-7 million or more from a portfolio of major corporate, foundation, and public donors. The MD, Grants will provide strategy and consultation for grant-related fundraising opportunities, develop customized grant resources, and provide full project management and writing for select proposals, reports, letters of inquiry and other grant-related deliverables.
WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
10% - Set vision, strategy, and plan for developing a shared grant writing service for the Field Fundraising cohort, incorporating input from Executive Directors and Development staff, with the goal of maximizing revenue to the organization as a whole
65% - Manage and write a set number of proposals, reports, letters of intent, and other grant-related deliverables for multiple regional development teams. This includes:
Manage and execute the grant cycle processes (strategy, drafting, finalizing, and submission) for a portfolio of funders.
Liaise and coordinate with national central teams (finance, data, public partnerships, etc.) and regional teams (Executive Directors, Development, Program, etc.) as needed.
Occasionally support non-portfolio grants or multi-region grants.
15% - Provide strategy, consultation and technical assistance for the full Field Fundraising cohort. In partnership with others on the Development team, build standard language, templates, and resources for all cohort fundraisers.
5% - Consistently maintain donor, prospect, and fundraising activity information in our customer relationship management system (currently SalesForce) and leverage this information in tracking progress, monitoring gaps, and adjusting strategy and approach
5% - Steward team and organizational initiatives
YOUR EXPERIENCE
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications):
Relationship Building and Management
Highly skilled relationship builder, with both internal and external partners
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Fundraising and Development
Specialize in best practices of development and grant fundraising
Proven track record of successfully navigating complex philanthropic landscapes to reach revenue goals
Experience managing a diverse portfolio of donors/funders from the public and private sector
Leverage historical local development trends in order to set strategy and/or adjust course as necessary
Grants Management
Set vision and direction for building a shared grant writing service to support a portfolio of local development teams in service of maximizing revenue to Teach For America as an enterprise
Ability to manage and execute multiple deadlines at the same time
Monitor progress against the portfolio to ensure goals are met
Prior experience
Required: At least 7+ years of related experience in development and grant writing
Required: Track record of meeting and exceeding ambitious goals as a fundraiser and grant writer
Preferred: Teach For America development experience
Work Demands
Occasional weekend or evening work hours required.
Must be able to travel to engage with local donors

YOUR COMPENSATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. New hires are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint depending on qualifications, internal equity, and the budgeted amount for the role. Tier A: 93,300 - 120,300
Tier B: 101,700 - 131,100
Tier C: 110,100 - 141,900
