Manager, Travel Services

The Travel Services Manager serves as the point person for the daily operations of Travel Services and as liaison between the Travel Service Specialists and the Travel Service Director. Provides leadership and direction necessary to engage and develop staff, encourage innovation and cross-functional thinking and maintain excellence in the delivery of service to our customers.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with leadership to develop and implement strategies to address challenges, progress, key changes and gaps in performance. Propose and revise departmental standard operating procedures. Establishes realistic goals and objectives for the department and participates as a management team member in meeting the goals and objectives of the Hospital.
  • Evaluates procedures to improve methods for controlling and reducing operational costs and improve efficiency and workflow. Help establish the departmental budget by advising departmental and employee needs and works within the confines of the approved budget. Communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Tracks key metrics for the office.
  • Supports the travel risk program to assist in ensuring traveler safety.
  •   Leads and/or assists in the evaluation, design, and implementation of any new systems and processes. Works with the travel management company to establish and oversee the daily travel operations and specialized travel services they provide. Maintains knowledge regarding various computer systems and programs used by Travel Services. Works with Information Sciences and outside vendors to identify and develop enhancements to systems and processes.
  • Troubleshoots and manages corrective actions for systems and technology used in Travel Services. Works with Information Sciences (IS) and outside vendors to identify and develop enhancements to systems and processes.
  • Manages staff and communicates effectively to ensure high levels of quality, productivity, and customer service. Provides mentorship, coaching, training, and development.
  • Works closely with Housing and Patient Services to ensure the travel needs of patients and families are met according to Hospital policy. Monitors the reasons for customer inquiries and complaints providing feedback to the appropriate individuals and implementing corrective measures to processes as needed ​

Minimum Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field required.
  • ·In lieu of the degree, nine (9) years of travel office experience may be substituted.

Minimum Experience:

  • Five (5) years of travel office experience, including two (2) years of supervisory/management experience required.
  •   Experience negotiating with outside vendors relating to discounted airfare, hotels, and rental cars preferred.

  • Experience with Sabre reservation system preferred.
  • Workday experience preferred.
  • Prior Power BI experience a plus.
  • Travel Risk Management experience preferred.

One of the following certifications from the Global Business Travel Association is preferred:

  • Certified Travel Consultant (CTC)
  • Certified Corporate Travel Professional preferred (CCTE)
  • Global Travel Professional preferred (GTP)

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $78,000 - $139,360 per year for the role of Manager, Travel Services.
