What this role is all about:
Reporting to the AVP, Total Rewards, the Total Rewards Manager will serve as a key member responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive Total Rewards programs. These programs will enable us to attract, reward, and retain top talent while positioning our company as an employer of choice. This role is eligible for remote work arrangements within B.C.
The Total Rewards Manager will be responsible for assisting with the design, implementation and execution of compensation, benefits, retirement and recognition programs. The successful candidate must possess the vision and operational expertise necessary to deliver results, with a focus on compensation program design, role requires a blend of business acumen, analytical skills, and strategic thinking to execute successful strategies.
This role is open to remote working arrangements within B.C. While we welcome all applications, we anticipate filling this role with a candidate located in British Columbia.
What you’ll do:
Compensation
- Design and implement Total Rewards programs by partnering with the AVP, Total Rewards.
- Manage company’s compensation philosophy, including base pay, incentive programs, and merit increases.
- Oversee and assist with the market analysis, salary structure reviews and ensure competitive pay structures.
- Oversee job evaluations and maintain job descriptions to ensure equitable pay practices.
- In partnership with the Compensation Specialist(s), lead the annual salary review processes and inventive cycles
- Provide support on compensation-related issues to HR and business leaders.
- Help develop and maintain compensation policies and procedures in alignment with the company’s objectives.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.
- Works with the Finance team on compensation modelling and assists with in the development of a budgetary approval process related to the compensation cycles.
- Contribute to the optimization and enhancement of compensation-related systems and tools.
Benefits
- Act as the project lead for the design of competitive and cost-effective benefits packages (Group Health, Group Insurance, paid time off, etc.) that attract and retain top talent in a post-merger environment.
- In partnership with the benefits brokers, conduct market research and benchmarking to assess industry trends, competitive practices, and regulatory changes to guide plan design.
- Lead the integration of benefits systems, data, and processes, ensuring smooth implementation across multiple platforms and departments (HRIS, payroll, compliance, etc.).
- Oversee the benefits and retirement plans administration and process improvement activities
- Monitor vendor performance, addressing issues or concerns promptly and effectively
- Review and optimize benefit and leave processes
- Align time-off policies with the merged benefits structure to ensure they complement each other and are easily understood by employees.
- Work with internal stakeholders to obtain approvals and update policies.
Rewards and Recognition
- In partnership with the AVP, Total Rewards, develop and implement recognition programs that celebrate employee achievements, milestones, and contributions.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of existing recognition tools and make recommendations on the way forward.
- Manage peer-to-peer recognition initiatives with a lens of DEI.
- Design a suite of non-monetary perks and staff discounts that enhance the employee experience.
Team Leadership and Development
- Builds and leads a team ensuring all performance management processes are established, performance standards developed, performance appraisals conducted.
- Provides leadership to all direct reports; provides coaching to build capabilities and fosters professional development to enable employees to optimize their contribution and maximize employee engagement.
- Oversees the day-to-day operation of the Total Rewards function.
- Drives operational efficiencies to maximize resources and enhance productivity.
- Contributes towards creation of an annual business plan and budget; collaborates with the leadership team to ensure the areas of improvement are aligned with the business needs.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree or certification (e.g., CCP, CBP) preferred.
- 5 to 7 years of experience in total rewards, compensation, and benefits management, with a proven track record of developing effective programs.
- In-depth knowledge of employee benefits programs (healthcare, retirement plans, wellness programs, etc.), as well as applicable laws and regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with employees at all levels.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and develop a course of action
- Strong project management with the ability to plan, organize and resource assignments of variety and complexity
- Business acumen, collaboration, and client-focused mentality to develop and strengthen business relationships
- Knowledge of relevant labor laws and regulations.
- Experience with benefits administration platforms and HRIS systems is highly preferred.
What you’ll gain:
- The salary range for this position is $103,000 - 115,000
