Position:Manager, Risk Adjustment Education

Position Summary:Responsible for guiding a team that develops and implements initiatives to improves coding completeness and documentation accuracy for Lumeris clients. Collaborates with internal teams to develop and implement standardized approaches to Clinical Documentation Improvement and Coding Education as a value-added benefit to Lumeris clients. Leads a team of certified risk adjustment coders and their supervisors. Oversees the creation and development of Disease Specific Risk Adjustment Training that balances both clinical and coding/documentation focuses. Presents to internal and external partners to achieve the department goals.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manages the activities of and coaches, mentors, motivates, supports, and develops a team of individual contributors and/or supervisors. Manages and/or supports performance management/corrective action plans, goal setting/review, regular guidance and 1-1 check ins, career development/planning, upskilling, resource allocation, staffing, DE&I initiatives, and other People & Culture programs/activities as needed.  Fosters accountability and collaboration to ensure team member and overall team success.
  • Oversees the creation of and produces standardized coding training and related educational content for internal and external clients using industry-standard references. Complies with official published guidance per current regulatory / legislative recommendation.
  • Delivers training and education in a variety of formats based on client need and internal initiatives. Such formats may include classroom-style education, webinar, audio-conferences or written content.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to ensure client / project-specific goals are met.
  • Acts as a subject matter expertise for company departments requiring expert input for solutions management or analytical purposes.
  • Participates in development of organizational procedures and updates of forms, manuals and related tools.
  • Regularly interacts with clients to enhance understanding of Clinical Documentation Improvement program goals to achieve Risk Adjustment strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Manages a team of certified coders and their supervisors in support of clinical documentation and improvement programs that support various clients and lines of business.
  • Develops workflows and process for pre-visit charting, post-visit chart review and educational chart reviews.
  • Ensures productivity standards are met as well as quality thresholds and oversight for complete and accurate documentation and coding initiatives.
  • Maintains current subject matter expertise by attending professional meetings, seminars, and related continuing education events.
  • Represents Lumeris to the public-at-large by participating in public speaking opportunities at relevant professional meetings.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Certification through AHIMA as RHIA or RHIT
  • 6+ years of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and risk adjustment experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role
  • 1+ years leadership experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role
  • Strong program and project management skills with the proven ability to guide cross-functional programs
  • Comprehensive knowledge of coding, HCCs, risk adjustments concepts, medical record review project management, encounter data management, compliance audit concepts
  • Demonstrated capability to work cross-functionally within corporate matrix environments
  • Effective collaboration and partnership skills on complicated initiatives
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels internally and externally
  • Firm computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong public presentation skills

Preferred:

  • Additional coding certification such as CCS, CCS-P, or CPC, CRC

Working Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in normal office working conditions.

The hiring range for this position is:

$98,400.00-$132,225.00
