PAYROLL MANAGER - REMOTE US
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and oversee all payroll operations for the company. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and efficient payroll processing and payment reconciliation, while implementing best practices and process improvements. The Payroll Manager will supervise and develop a team, handling recruitment, performance management, and teammate relations. In partnership with HRIS, the role will also support and enhance the functionality of the HCM system to drive operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Develop and Implement Payroll Processes: Create and maintain standardized payroll approval processes, ensuring control from calculation to cash reconciliation, including bonuses and commissions.
Ensure Compliance and Data Integrity: Establish multi-state payroll compliance policies; maintain HR/payroll data accuracy through audits, queries, and analysis; stay updated on labor laws and partner with Legal as needed.
Oversee Reporting and Regulatory Requirements: Manage statutory filings (EEOC, BLS, etc.), generate regular management reports, and resolve discrepancies in payroll, accounting, and tax reporting.
Support Executive and Special Requests: Handle executive-level payroll requests, including complex bonus/stock distributions and ad hoc reporting.
Lead and Develop Payroll Team: Coach and cross-train team members; ensure adherence to SOX and internal controls while driving continuous improvement in payroll operations.
Minimum Education or Certifications Required
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. CPP certification preferred.
Minimum Experience or Skills Required
Minimum of seven (7) years payroll experience in a multi-state to include: Applying relevant laws; Working knowledge of accounting; Compliance with payroll laws, to include tax regulations; Strong knowledge of payroll operations
Demonstrated ability to work effectively at both detail and big-picture levels and to drive projects forward
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with an acute ability to listen attentively and to communicate information clearly and effectively throughout all levels of the organization with audiences of varying degrees of familiarity with material
Demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional groups
Demonstrated interpersonal, collaborative, and relationship-building skills; ability to interact positively with teammates at all levels of the company
Salary Range: $85,000 -$100,000
