About This PositionThis role will be responsible for developing Intersect Power’s CIP Medium program and transitioning into managing compliance activity during the operational period. The Manager will work closely with IT, Operational Technology, Engineering, Legal, and others to collaboratively and pro-actively develop and maintain project compliance, provide strategic identification of upcoming requirements, manage the cross-functional planning and implementation process, and provide robust reporting to Intersect Power and to applicable regulatory bodies. This position is a key contributing role to the Operations Team. This position will report to the Director, Operational Compliance, Operations. 
Overview of DepartmentThe current operations team consists of operations, asset management, and compliance professionals with over 4GW of operational experience. The operations team works closely with the  Development and Construction teams  to bring Intersect Power’s pipeline from concept to operations remaining involved throughout the project lifecycle. The Intersect Power operations team is expanding to support the growing fleet moving into operations over in the near term.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide leadership and guidance in compliance activities to support requirements with NERC, PUC, and ISO standards, and others as necessary with a focus on NERC CIP Medium Impact program development 
  • Serve as the primary project manager to develop the NERC CIP Medium Impact program and own future program implementation and ongoing management 
  • Manage activities related to risk analysis, procedure and internal controls implementation, controls verification, evidence and artifact management, monitoring, and reporting
  • Monitor existing and new compliance requirements, identify potential impact to compliance program and communicate any impacts and support technical SMEs during implementation of existing, revised, or new requirements
  • Lead and make regulatory filings which may include managing and coordinating outside counsel, consultants, internal SMEs, and other project personnel
  • Partner with all levels of cross-functional teams and subject matter experts throughout the organization to analyze, recommend and support compliance implementation, understanding, and corrective action efforts, as needed
  • Design and manage internal assessments, evaluate compliance, investigate potential noncompliance violations, document these in accordance with regulatory norms and industry good practices, and design appropriate corrective actions and mitigation plans to address identified internal control weaknesses and compliance evidence deficiencies
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with regulators, internal teams, and third-party service providers
  • Support technical SMEs in identifying mitigations and providing project management support of technical compliance related projects
  • Actively participate in industry organizations, conferences, workshops, and forums regarding internal controls for existing and new standards and requirements
  • Support compliance on-boarding of solar projects during the construction phases

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, engineering, or similar discipline or related work experience
  • 5+ years of work experience in NERC compliance and the electric regulatory industry; examples include Engineering and compliance departments, federal or state regulatory role(s)
  • Familiarity with NERC CIP Medium Impact Reliability Standards and Requirements, ERCOT, and CAISO

Physical and Sensory Requirements

  • Mostly sedentary work; using standard office equipment including: a computer, keyboard, and telephone. 
  • Position is part of a remote team, with regular electronic and video communication

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: $130,000 USD to $140,000 USD base salary with 25-30% annual target bonus
