There are two types of experience being considered for this role: Experience that is directly relevant to the role and Total Working Experience, in all fields. This includes: internships and consulting work. In collaboration with the hiring manager, the People and Culture team calculates experience based on the candidate’s most current resume. When calculating the offer, consideration is given to candidates that possess additional qualifications (i.e., desired qualifications). Teaching Lab will generally cap salaries for new employees at 105% of the midpoint to allow for continued growth in the role over time.

SUMMARY OF POSITIONThe Manager, Facilitation Engagement plays a key role in advancing Teaching Lab’s mission by overseeing the hiring, onboarding, and retention processes for coaches and facilitators throughout their contract term. This position is responsible for cultivating a positive and inclusive culture, driving engagement, and fostering community. The Manager will also provide mentorship and facilitate both individual and collective development opportunities to ensure that facilitation quality remains exceptional across all programs, ultimately improving teaching and learning outcomes. Additionally, the Manager will help raise national awareness of our facilitation program while supporting Teaching Lab’s broader strategic goals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primary responsibilities for the Manager, Facilitation Engagement include:

  • Hiring, Onboarding, and Retention
  • Collaborate with the Facilitation Team and Talent Acquisition team to establish benchmarks and resources for each stage of the hiring process of coaches and facilitators  
  • Actively participate in the recruitment and  hiring process for new coaches and facilitators 
  • Develop and implement engaging onboarding content and processes that provide new coaches and facilitators with a comprehensive understanding of Teaching Lab’s mission, organizational culture, and their key roles and responsibilities (e.g., welcome emails, LMS reviews, check-ins)
  • Manage Teaching Lab’s coach and facilitator mentorship program.
  • Regularly review and refine feedback surveys for coach and facilitator hiring and onboarding processes, using insights to drive continuous improvement
  • Conduct stay interviews and exit interviews to gather valuable feedback, offering actionable insights to enhance retention and program quality

  • Community Engagement and Continuous Learning 
  • Design and implement initiatives (e.g., mixers, Slack channels, newsletters) to foster meaningful engagement and build a strong sense of community among coaches and facilitators
  • Develop and lead workshops, collaborations, and continuous learning opportunities for coaches and facilitators, modeling best practices through activities such as book clubs and inquiry cycles
  • Conduct annual 1:1 conversations with coaches and facilitators to understand their experiences, gather feedback, and identify opportunities for growth and program refinement
  • Collaborate with the Facilitation and Project Teams to plan, staff, and lead regional meet-ups, creating opportunities for connection and professional growth
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaborations to raise awareness, enhance ongoing development, and promote the use of key tools and resources
  • Model the design and delivery of high-quality professional learning experiences that align with best practices and our Facilitator Competencies 
  • Provide recommendations for coaches and facilitators who demonstrate potential to support internal development initiatives

  • Coordinate and Support Individual Development of Coaches and Facilitators
  • Stay informed about departmental development opportunities and provide individualized coaching and follow-up support to coaches and facilitators as needed
  • Continuously review coach and facilitator data to identify areas for targeted support, celebrate achievements, and make informed recommendations for growth
  • Conduct Facilitation Competency Observations and deliver high-impact feedback to enhance facilitation skills and drive professional growth.

  • Evaluation and Data-Driven Improvement 
  • Develop, update, maintain, and administer surveys at key milestones (e.g., onboarding, mid-year, end-of-year) to gather actionable feedback 
  • Continuously analyze data and feedback from coaches and facilitators to identify trends, inform decision-making, and recommend program enhancements 
  • Prepare regular reports on program progress (relevant to the role)  for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the Facilitation team to interpret trends in coach and facilitator data, using insights to determine and implement appropriate next steps 

  • Administrative and Operational Oversight
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for coach and facilitator concerns, escalating issues as needed to the Senior Director Facilitation and/or the People and Culture team as needed
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data systems (e.g., Monday.com boards) to support effective staffing, development, and tiering decisions 
  • Manage and approve payments related to onboarding and facilitation tasks, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Research and coordinate the selection and distribution of gifts for coaches and facilitators 

  • Collaboration and Strategic Alignment 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align coaching and facilitating efforts with organizational goals.  
  • Provide regular and relevant updates to the facilitation and project teams (e.g., onboarding status, concerns, feedback, recommended supports) 
  • Support the Employer Branding and Centralized Staffing teams by identifying coaches and facilitators for projects and creating promotional content 
  • Actively seek and respond to feedback, adjusting practices to meet evolving needs
  • Utilize strong, detail-oriented, differentiated communication methods to ensure coherence and clarity across multiple teams 
  • Represent Teaching Lab at conferences, workshops, onsite,  and meetings, engaging with educators, policymakers, and other stakeholders to promote our mission and services

  • Stay current with research and best practices in the field, attend learning experiences to build skills and competencies in project management, client management, coaching, and adult facilitation
  • Engage in personal and organized learning opportunities as a team member at an organization that champions racial equity and centers anti-racism
  • Create and deliver training to other team members on core skills or competencies within the Manager, Facilitation Engagement role which is also transferable and critical for other roles

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Facilitator Development, Senior Director, Facilitation Program, and/or Executive Team.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES AND KEY SUCCESS INDICATORS (KSIs)

  • The Manager, Facilitation Engagement is accountable for achieving goals set in collaboration with their manager, aligned with Teaching Lab’s Annual Goals, and especially, Key Success Indicators (KSI) for their function specific goals. Additionally, if assigned direct reports, this role would have Home Manager goals. Additional information will be shared with candidates during the recruitment and selection process.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Five (5) or more years combined experience working in PK-12 education, with minimum of two years experience teaching PK-12 students from traditionally underserved backgrounds with demonstrated evidence of impact
  • Three (3) or more years combined experience leading or high-impact professional learning for educators 
  • Two (2) or more years combined providing instructional coaching to educators or leaders 
  • Three (3) or more years of successful experience managing staff engagement and retention initiatives with a strong emphasis on internal communication and program management
  • Experience in project management and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely program milestones and objectives delivery
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong professional judgment and confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, and at least one project management system (Monday.com, Asana, etc.)
  • Experience coordinating and managing staff surveys
  • Demonstrate strong professional judgment and confidentiality of sensitive information

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in consultative organizations providing professional learning and instructional coaching support
  • Experience developing professional learning content

  • Travel could be required for the role.  Travel is determined based on business needs and can vary depending on partnership/contract requirements.
