What you'll be doing in the role of Manager, Donor Experience & Planned Giving:

The Manager, Donor Experience & Planned Giving serves as a key member of the National Major Gifts and Planned Giving fundraising team for Susan G. Komen. This position will be responsible for the stewardship and cultivation of a comprehensive planned giving and major gift portfolio with a focus on growth and retention. You will support the ongoing management of our current planned gift pipeline, in addition to supporting identification, qualification, cultivation, and stewardship of new bequests. The blended portfolio will also be responsible for some major donors and family foundations. Your priority will be providing a valued and authentic experience via telephone, email, and mail with the goal of providing donors with a meaningful relationship that enhances their connection to Komen. 

What you will bring to the table:

  • With the VP, supports the $300M+ bequest pipeline from more than 900 donors, in addition to assisting in the administration, documentation, and stewardship for realized estate gifts annually. 
  • Establishes and builds relationships with current and prospective planned gift donors to increase Komen's philanthropic resources. 
  • Assists with estate administration, bequests, retirement plan or life insurance beneficiary gifts, securities/stock gifts, Donor Advised Fund gifts, Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) gifts, and blended gifts.
  • Research planned gift or blended gift prospects and create strategies to move them through the donor pipeline.
  • Serves as internal information resource for stock gifts, Qualified Charitable Distributions, Donor Advised Funds, and Family Foundations.
  • Reviews and drafts documentation, assists in producing communication tools, and analyzes and identifies program improvements.
  • Support the development, roll out and training for the Philanthropy Advisory Board for internal and external use, including tools, resources, materials.
  • Manages a small portfolio of Mid Major and Family Foundation donors, approximately $300k with a goal to grow to $1M+
  • Implement the prescribed mid-level and major donor stewardship and cultivation plan for small portfolio of donors.
  • Utilize prescribed tools, tactics, and intensive accountability to fast-track donor engagement, resulting in increased giving YOY in assigned portfolio.
  • Collaborate with VP researching new business Family Foundations to meet the department goal of twenty-five new proposals sent in FY25. 
  • Execute prompt and effective stewardship for every gift in a portfolio, every new bequest, and all realized estate gifts where trustee information is provided for friends or family of decedent. 
  • Work in collaboration with VP on identifying and cultivating potential major gift prospects. 
  • Ensure Salesforce is kept up to date on all moves and donor interactions. 
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Susan G. Komen mission and programs to promote national fundraising initiatives. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

We know you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree and successful work history in fundraising and relationship development. Someone who holds a CFRE with no degree is eligible to apply. 
  • Fundraising or sales experience with proven record of revenue generation exceeding $500,000.
  • Excellent organization, time management and detail-orientation skills required to manage donor caseload and document relationship status and updates. 
  • Intrinsically motivated, able to work autonomously in a remote environment.
  • Ability to analyze and integrate information from relevant sources. 
  • Strong ability to listen compassionately and probe effectively to establish a good rapport with donors. 
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, including relationship building and communication in-person, on video, over the phone, and via email with diverse groups of people with tact, patience, and courtesy. 
  • Outcome driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities. 
  • Remains composed under stress, manages responses to criticism tactfully and delivers on organizational commitments. 
  • Possess in-depth knowledge about donor databases, preferably Salesforce. 
  • Strong technical skills and comfort utilizing Outlook, Word, Excel, and Microsoft Teams. Knowledge of Salesforce, Asana, Gravyty, FreeWill, and other platforms a plus, ability to train and coach others in these systems. 
  • Models and fosters behavior that is consistent with the beliefs, values, goals, and objectives of Susan G. Komen. 
  • Minimum, related work experience: 2-5 years
  • Travel requirements required outside of your home office will be approximately 25% or more depending on our business needs.

Approximate salary range $64,000 - $90,000/annual, exact compensation ranges are based on a range of factors including the labor market, job level, internal equity, and budget. Exact salary offers will be determined by factors such as the candidate's skills, experience, and geographic location.
