Manager, Data Platform Engineering

What Youâll Be DoingAs a Data Platform Engineering Manager, youâll lead a team focused on building a robust and scalable foundation for data, supporting our data platform, services and tooling and products from storage to visualization for improving company-wide productivity, strategy and decision-making with data. Â
Who You Are You have a passion for helping teams design, implement, and operate stable, scalable, and efficient solutions to flow data from production systems into data lakes & data warehouses. You are curious about all the nuances in the source data systems & always make an effort to assert data quality checks and improve documentation. You have experience operating production systems at scale and ensuring little downtime. You enjoy designing concrete solutions and converting technical debt into strategic opportunities for our company. You love mentoring other data engineers and are passionate about data engineering & data infrastructure best practices. You also enjoy working cross-collaboratively across Analytics, Data Science, Data Engineers, Engineers, DevOps, Privacy and Security. The candidate will also have a knack for establishing and building platform strategy at a rapidly growing Tech company. New analytics technologies are emerging every day and weâre excited about the impact theyâll have â we hope you share our enthusiasm!Â
This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.
What we're looking for:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience building and leading a team of high-performing data platform engineersÂ
- Experience building and deploying products that rely on large-scale distributed systems in Python or Go, Scala/Java, or other similar languages
- Experience with large-scale, distributed systems design and development with an understanding of scaling, replication, consistency, and high availability
- Experience in defining and developing high-volume, horizontally scalable architectures
- Experience with system software design and development with an understanding of computer architecture, storage, network, and IO subsystems
- Experience with Big Data query engines such as Hive, Presto, Trino, Spark
- Experience with data stores such as Redshift, MySQL, Postgres, Snowflake, etc.
- Experience using Realtime technologies âŚ
