THE JOB: Manager, Communications SSC/SCC/JSC
The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.
Starting Salary Range: $102,720 - $128,400
The Manager, Communications SSC/SCC/JSC, reporting to the Director of Communications, is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive communication strategies that support the committee’s strategic objectives and workplan. This includes enhancing engagement, improving patient care, and elevating the physician leadership voice through various communication channels and media relations. The Manager will regularly assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and recommend improvements to ensure that the operational teams, including SSC/SCC /JSC, meet their annual communication goals.
The role also involves leading and mentoring a communications team, ensuring high performance and professional development while aligning their work with both departmental and organizational goals. The Manager will oversee task delegation, project assignments, and performance evaluations, while fostering growth in the team's skills and deepening their understanding of the committee's mission. This leadership will drive the retention and development of the communications team, enabling them to deliver impactful communication strategies that support the broader goals of the SSC/SCC /JSC.
In addition to team management, the Manager will collaborate with senior management, committee co-chairs, and external partners to ensure cohesive communication efforts. Effective two-way communication between leadership and staff is a key responsibility, enhancing transparency and trust. The Manager will also oversee the creation and distribution of engaging, accurate, and timely content across various platforms, ensuring consistency in messaging and adherence to brand standards. Success will be measured by the successful implementation of communication strategies that align with the annual strategic goals and work plan, supporting the operational teams, and driving effective partner engagement across the Ministry of Health, Health Authorities, sections and societies as well as Medical Staff Associations.

WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field, with a preference for advanced degrees.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in communications, with a significant focus on committee communications and health care within a complex organization.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a team.
- Strong strategic thinking, planning, and execution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages for a variety of audiences.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of management and staff.
- Experience with change management and the ability to communicate sensitive or complex information tactfully and effectively.
- Advanced knowledge of digital communication tools and platforms, content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Campaign Monitor), and social media.
- Familiarity with principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and how they intersect with internal communications.
