THE JOB: Manager, Communications Family Practice Services Committee (FPSC)

The starting salary range falls within the minimum to mid-point of the salary range.

Starting Salary Range: $102,720 - $128,400

The Manager, Communications FPSC reporting into the Director of Communications, plays a pivotal role in leading the development and implementation of strategic communication initiatives that align with the collaborative committee’s goals and workplan. This includes crafting communication strategies that enhance partner engagement, patient care and family practice initiatives, and physician leadership visibility. The manager will regularly assess communication channels and provide recommendations for continuous improvement, ensuring that the FPSC meets its annual strategic communication objectives.

In addition to strategic planning, the Manager will lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing communications team, fostering professional growth and ensuring alignment with both departmental and organizational priorities. This role requires strong team management, including delegating tasks, overseeing project assignments, and conducting performance evaluations. By nurturing the team's skill sets and ensuring their understanding of the committee’s goals, the Manager will contribute to the retention and growth of the communications team, driving success across all initiatives.

The Manager will also be responsible for fostering strong relationships with key internal and external partners, including senior management, committee co-chairs, the Ministry of Health, health authorities, and other partners. Effective communication between leadership and staff will be a priority, with the goal of enhancing transparency and trust. Additionally, the Manager will oversee the creation and distribution of engaging and accurate content across multiple platforms, ensuring consistency and adherence to brand standards while exploring innovative communication methods.

 WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field, with a preference for advanced degrees.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in communications, with a significant focus on committee and health care communications within a complex organization is an asset.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Strong strategic thinking, planning, and execution skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages for a variety of audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Experience with change management and the ability to communicate sensitive or complex information tactfully and effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital communication tools and platforms, content management systems (e.g., Campaign Monitor), and social media.
  • Familiarity with principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and how they intersect with internal communications.
