Job Summary

Have you ever wondered how insurance companies calculate the price of insurance policies?

The Corporate Actuarial Data & Technology Team is a dynamic, growing team at Arch. This team implements innovative insurance pricing models and analytical tools to improve profitability and growth across a wide range of Property & Casualty insurance products.

As Manager, Business Intelligence you will play a crucial role in developing the team’s visualization capability. You will work on high-profile visualization projects that support the team’s wider actuarial work, and this will drive the company’s decision-making and strategy. You will work alongside a talented team of data engineers, actuaries, data scientists, and other visualization experts to build best-in-class analytics insight.

Hybrid role - open to remote for highly qualified candidates.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with actuaries and business partners to develop and implement wireframes aimed at business actions based on data driven insights. 
  • Develop dashboards based on wireframes. Engagement lead sets KPIs and what kind of charts. PPT, Excel, etc.
  • Design end to end reporting solution sufficing business needs. 
  • Build data models sourcing data from various data sources viz. Azure SQL Server, and Snowflake for reporting. 
  • Implement writeback capabilities in the reporting tool leveraging various automation tools. 
  • Leverage technology to automate manual tasks and reporting needs. 
  • Develop pixel perfect reports where appropriate. 
  • Build & support applications in Power Apps and integrate it with Power BI.
  • Research marketplace visuals and R/Python visuals to create new dashboard enhancements. 
  • Develop & implement visualization best practices across the team. 
  • Build POC’s to explore new features, tools & technologies. 
  • Guide, support, mentor and develop the growing visualization team. 

Required Skills/Experience 

  • 5-7 years of experience in developing reports & dashboards leveraging visualization tools viz. Power BI, QlikView, and/or Tableau 
  • 2-3 years of recent experience in Power BI visualization tool along with prior experience in any other visualization tool
  • Strong experience in building data models (Star Schema/Snowflake)
  • Proficient in writing complex measures in the visualization tool (DAX).
  • Ability to writing complex SQL queries to pull the data into visualization tool and for querying data for analysis purpose
  • Experience in building geospatial mapping capabilities in the visualization tool
  • Intermediate experience in Power Platform (Microsoft Flow/Power Apps) 
  • Intermediate experience in R and/or Python scripting  
  • Intermediate experience in building dashboards in Power BI embedded capacity or building BI solutions leveraging web technologies (JavaScript, Angular JS) would be plus. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to gather requirements and explain complex concepts. 
  • Demonstrable execution and organization skills – task management, time management and project management 
  • Exceptional teamwork skills required to play a key role in cross-functional teams. Ability to collaborate and build trusting relationships with business partners. 

Desired Skills/Experience 

  • Demonstrated experience in building dashboards/reports to support analytics and/or actuarial functions in an insurance company setting. 
  • Ability to handle technical tasks/problems independently - managing tasks and engaging people across the team. 
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. 
  • Exceptional collaboration and relationship building skills. 
  • A mind set of continued learning, and the desire to explore new tool choices and understand how data can be used to drive change. 

  

 Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology degree, Data Analytics or equivalent
  • Technical certification in any Business Intelligence technology (a plus but not required)

For individuals assigned or hired to work in the location(s) indicated below, the base salary range is provided. Range is as of the time of posting. Position is incentive eligible.

$95,900 - $148,902/Annual

  • Total individual compensation (base salary, short & long-term incentives) offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, qualifications, talent availability & specialization as well as business needs. The above pay range may be modified in the future.
