Role Responsibilities

Join our dynamic T&I Artificial Intelligence (AI) Program team as a Machine Learning Operations (MLOps) Specialist. You'll play a crucial role in deploying and optimizing AI solutions that align with the GoA's AI Strategy, collaborating with industry partners and designing robust data pipelines. As the MLOps Specialist, you will provide technical support for the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of AI solutions. You will ensure the high reliability and performance of AI systems in production environments, aligning with the GoA's AI Strategy and aiding in the implementation of the GoA AI Roadmap. You will advise on best practices and standards for deploying, monitoring, and scaling AI solutions. 

Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Collaborating closely with third-party AI solution providers contracted by the GoA, ensuring compliance with GoA's MLOps guidelines and requirements.
  • Designing and implementing data pipelines, workflows, and infrastructure for both traditional and generative machine learning models.
  • Utilizing cloud services, automation tools, and advanced programming skills to facilitate continuous integration and delivery of AI solutions.
  • Supporting Data Scientists and Software Engineers in developing, testing, and refining machine learning models and collaborating with business units across the GoA to optimize AI solutions and resolve issues.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A related university degree (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics), supplemented by at least four (4) years of related experience. Equivalencies may be considered. 
  • Proven experience deploying and managing machine learning models in production environments.
  • Experience working with generative AI models and frameworks such as Langchain, huggingface, etc.
  • Familiarity with large language models such as LLAMA, ChatGPT, and Claude etc.
  • Experience in managing the entire product life cycle, from planning and development to deployment and updates.


Assets:

  • Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g. Microsoft Azure (preferred), GCP, etc.).
  • Directly related experience providing technical support for the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of AI solutions.


Equivalencies are:
A related two-year diploma and a minimum of six (6) years of related experience; a related one-year certificate and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience.

Notes

This position is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).

Must reside in Alberta to work remotely. While this position is eligible for remote work, the successful candidate must reside in Alberta to work remotely.
